Broadband not working

I'm wiaitng for my Wi-Fi to activate was ment to be today but it isn't working it's just red and can't set up my sky stream without it

It could be up to midnight before it's activated. You could try restarting your Sky Hub, by switching off at the plug for 30 seconds.

I wasn't told I would have to wait till up midnight and have young children is there any chance this could be done soon please also I only have a virgin media built in broadband port I have plug my broadband lead into that will it still work

Sky Broadband cannot use any Virgin Media infrastructure: plugging a Sky Hub into that will not work even if Sky activation has happened.

Almost certainly not: this appears to be an automated process.

You are not speaking to Sky on the forum its mainly customer to customer based.

All Broadband activations can take up to midnight of the day of activation this is the norm and you'll have to wait unfortunately. No special provisions can be made because you have young children.

That suggests either installation is delayed or Openreach thinks you have a phone socket (which is what they've activated)

 

Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

If you do not have an Openreach telephone socket or Fibre ONT then you'd need one installing by Openreach. You will need to call Sky and report you have no socket. Note that the lead time for Openreach to come and install the equipment could be a couple days to more than a week so I would consider other connectivity options like mobile hotspotting in the meantime.

Could my sky stream connect through ethernet cable tho wich is plugged into my broadband box or does the broadband box have to be plugged into a wall socket to work all together

Your Sky hub needs an internet connection from somewhere... Plugging your Sky Stream puck into the hub when it doesn't have a broadband connection will do nothing

I only have telephone socket in the hallway wich has no name on it would that work ? Or a virgin media socket

It should look something like the below image. It may or may not have a name on it.

If you have a socket with only one port then you'll need a microfilter.

Do you have the sky number I can ring as can't find it and I don't think I have one of them sockets but they are remotely activating my Wi-Fi today and don't want to be paying for soemthing I can't use

If you do not have an appropriate socket then you will almost certainly be without broadband today at least.
