Broadband install by Open Reach .

Hi all , had the first part of the Open Reach install today , box outside my house fitted by their so called " engineer " it's absolutely rubbish and spoke to a person at Sky and they said they've had lots of complaints about Open Reach!!! Managed to message someone at Open Reach on their Facebook page and they said the " engineer " that does the internal box will correct this joke of a job they've done !!

'Openreach' (all one word)

Yes, that's pretty horrible: it appears the fibre drop cable got cut too short, or possibly was hindered by the rather nasty mess of legacy copper pairs.

They are currently using a considerable number of subcontractors to attempt to reach 80,000 new FTTP installations every week.

Re: Broadband install by Open Reach .

I told the Openreach person on Facebook and they said the engineer who comes to fit the internal box will rectify this , I told them it was cut too short !

I'm actually thinking of refusing the internal install if the engineer doesn't rectify the mess outside my house !

Re: Broadband install by Open Reach .

Thanks for your reply , do you know if it's an Openreach engineer or sky engineer that fits the internal box ???

Sky have told me that this is unlikely to get sorted by Openreach

Re: Broadband install by Open Reach .

@edgie700 Could be either/or for your final part, you would have to ask if possible for them to move it up and directly over your copper cable connection assuming that it is only supplying your home and is not a multi pair with other properties off it, just NO way off knowing what is connected live all over the place, but it is a mess for sure!

2nd Engineer has to splice into the fibre inside the grey box so really depends on how many wraps around there is of the fibre going away to the csp, you may be lucky, get an Engineer who does not want to disturb it to much then it's not going to happen.

Have the nice conversation upfront when the arrive to do your final part! They may even pull out your old copper and plug the hole as not needed but once your Fibre is up and working for that and NOT before!!!!
