Broadband fault (suspect cut wire)

So earlier this week some gardening work was done where I live. I live in a block of flats.

Later that day I noticed my broadband was offline. Having done the checks via the Sky App it suggested a fault.

Openreach appointment booked however text today from Openreach they think the fault is fixed but will attend if I didn't reply back which I haven't as still not working.

As I mention I suspect a wire is damaged, I can't see anything obvious other than the areas where the wire runs around has been cleared of vegetation.

One thing that confuses me though is the router light. It's a Max router slowly blinking green which suggests "Your hub has been authenticated.

It will be ready to go in a moment. The light will turn white when it’s connected to the internet."

So if my hub has been authenticated surely there is some sort of connection? Rebooting the router after Openreach said they think it's fixed hasn't done anything so still got to wait till Wednesday.

Just wondering what could be wrong, obviously nothing I've done especially if it turns out there is cable damage!

@willas00 quite why your hub is not showing a red light which it should if the connection was down is unclear however these units ccan do odd things. If you are in a block of flats have your neighbour's also lost connection?

Hi,

Yea I do wonder. I only live in a small block and I'm the only one with internet via this way. My other neighbour has Virgin so unaffected.

@willas00 you could call Sky to see what they say but Insuspect they will tell you to wait for Openreach.

No. The copper wire connection to my router is broken . It needs new cable from fone line to router

Re: Broadband fault (suspect cut wire)

Inside it the cable to the box. The copper has broken away from the fitting at the back of the router. So the WiFi broadband is working fine it the cable into the box that is broken from the router. So it needs new phone wire connection to the router.

@Veefitzy If it is the standard DSL RJ11 to RJ11 cable you would be quicker to source it by yourself, if not then you will have to call sky.!
