Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

@DavidP253 Really cannot see why sky would do anything, they would be more happy now you are paying full price!

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

We "upgraded" to Sky Ultrafast broadband two weeks ago and are having similar issues to those described above.  Works fine one minute but repeatedly drops the connection.  And have to manually reconnect.  It's so infuriating!!!  And cannot find a number to contact Sky to discuss the issue!!

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

Been on Fibre for a few weeks.  Last night/this morning, out for nearly five hours.  I'm not paying for outages!  Fix it!

@Zygo

You aren’t contacting Sky here. This is a customer ▶️ customer discussion forum where we try to help other customers.

I'm afraid compensation doesn't apply for an outage of a few hours.

Any broadband issues between midnight and 7am could be essential overnight maintenance taking place which is carried out then to minimise disruption. There’s no pre-warning of this. The link posted by @Chrisee explains.

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

i have the same annoying issue - 135mb then zero for 30 seconds then back again..... paying 80 per month for 5gb "full" fibre that is unreliable really stings,.... i could have just paid 40 per month to have 2x 4g routers from THREE or EE - one upstairs one down stoars giving me relaible 100mb download..... problem is i had mine intalled by City Fibre who have the worst customer services in history

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

@Flanology Hard to work out from your post, but is it the 5Gb/s Gigafast+ package on the CF connection with the issue, or the fact that the new sky WiFi7 Hub you have is letting the side down for connection, if that is wireless wifi or Ethernet connection on that Hub.....

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

My office is 10 metres away from the hub/ router.

standing next to the router it's at 1200mb

in my office it's 65mb to 120mb.

then without notice it just drops out for 30 seconds in my office. But near the router there is now issue. It's realer strange. I'm wondering if there is a rouge rf signal near my office blocking the WiFi.

I may end up having to purchase another hexagon shaped booster

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

@Flanology No purchase for you it's all free with the 5Gb/s package that you have and upto the 3 pod's for wireless, but do keep in mind, they i believe are NOT wifi7 devices but all wifi5 in nature, no doubt sometimes in the future they may catch up....

Wireless wifi and MESH is not easy to workout what is going on, and you may be correct that the wireless is folding way back due to an issue, you will only be able to see that if you can analyze what is going on at the signal level!

An experienced sky Broadband Engineer should be well capable off doing so, and that may be the tact you have to take!

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

@Flanology To keep this seperate, so you get the idea, i have 2 Asus routers and 2 Asus AP's all operating in various Ai mesh wired/wireless backhauls, and THAT is what it takes to get FULL wired/wireless speeds on the FF500 connection throughout with NO speed drops on demand. Single Router and 10M away never going to get full speed no matter what ever!

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

Yeah. Totally get the drop off in speeds due to distance but not happy with the total drop outs. Thanks for your reply's.

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

@Flanology With you on that one, the total dropouts gets hard to prove, is it the new sky Hub, the wireless wifi causing, the CF connection disappearing, you may just have to do a BQM against the wan connection, but have zero knowledge against that new Hub if it even can be done!

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

Hi all. I see this threat has taken off and I'm not alone in my problems. The latest is that I tried all sorts to fix the problem, including different wifi repeaters/boosters and even a powerline adaptor that I had knocking around. It was an older one so was never going to give me a great speed but I wanted to ty to prevent the drops outs. It helped but I got tired of paying for 500mb and only getting 5-20mb in my office less than 10m away. I've now left Sky Broadband and gone to BT and am getting upwards of 250mb in my office via wifi and it's cheaper so am much happier!

Re: Broadband Keeps Dropping Out

@DavidP253 Glad you got it going as needed, as a little footnote are BT accepting customers direct to them now? and if so BT Smarthub2 as the supplied BT Router also!
