Broadband Installation Delay

I left Virgin Media (full package) to join Sky, (again full package) due to price hikes.

I was given a connection date of 02.09.2024 with Sky Broadband and a disconnection date of 07.09.2024 with Virgin.

Since 15th August Sky has messaged me to say installation is delayed and has given an update weekly, confirming further delay.

I have had messages from BT Open Reach say they need permission to carry out work and I have signed the digital form that was e-mailed out to me. BT Open Reach continue to message me reminding me to fill in the form, despite this being done and having a copy sent back to me as confirmation.

Virgin has now disconnected their Broadband service and my wi-fi controlled home - heating, lighting, and security etc. are now inoperative. I can't even use the SKY TV hubs that have been sent as they require an internet connection.

4G signal here is limited and I am managing to connect via phone.

I have tried to contact both SKY and Openreach without any luck.

Any advice as to what I should do to help speed up the installation or arrange an interim solution with SKY?

Sky are very unlikely to offer an 'interim solution' (because they really don't have any) : unfortunately you'll need to persist in trying to identify where the permissions to work have failed.

Re: Broadband Installation Delay

Spoke to Sky and was told that these things move in their own time. Both OpenReach and SKY have scheduled an update for later in the week so hopefully there is some progress. SKY have made a note of the date in which I didn't have internet access and will provide loss of service compensation as the SKY stream boxes can't run without broadband.
We shall see.

Re: Broadband Installation Delay

I can't go another month without broadband.
can't watch TV,  can't work, no Hive, lights or security.
Can I cancel contract?

@WaltonSw Yes you can cancel if you want to, you would have to call Sky to do so and its also worth bearing in mind that any other provider who uses the Openreach network will encounter the same delays.
