Boardband speed and fluctuation

I have had an engineer in and connected up the board. He said the speed would improve by a factor of 10. This has not happened after 4 hours. It also seems to go up and down dramatically. I order Gigafast service and is is definitely not that. Please advise urgently. I rely on my internet connection and it is just not good.

Internet problems

M6 gigafast service is not functioning properly. The service is at 10% of the service i am paying for and sometimes stops entirely. Please check and come back to me by return. I have had nothing but problems since moving in and taking sky on board. I really need my internet to work properly.

@AndrewChinnery

Are you referring to the broadband itself, or what you are seeing over WiFi?

These can be very different.

Just for clarity, we are just other customers here and not Sky themselves so can not check anything for you.

@Me134 if you are seeing speeds around 90Mb/s check the erhernet cable from the ONT to the hub as if thst is damaged it would give thst speed..

You've tagged the wrong person and possibly in the wrong thread? 😉

Re: Boardband speed and fluctuation

Speed fluctuates between a few mbps to 40 to 100 to 300 and then back down. I'm paying for 900

@Johan5 you are paying for a broadband supply up to 900Mb/s which Sky test daily you can find the results in the Service Checker in the My Sky app Speeds on devices however will vary especially if connected by WiFi mainly due to the layout of your home and how it is built.

Poor WiFi coverage is probably the most common question we get in the forum. In many homes a single Sky hub cannot provide a usable wifi signal in every room due to the layout and type of construction of the property especially in older homes. Assuming the hub is in the best possible position which is out in the open on a surface then the only answer is additional wifi sources.

Your choice.is to either buy Sky's add-on WiFi Max bundle which can supply up to 3 extenders see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max or buy your own wifi system and use that instead of the Sky hub's WiFi.
