Bad WiFi range and keeps dropping in and out in different areas in the house

Close to the router, the signal is very strong. However if you move upstairs the WiFi loses a lot of strength and the WiFi seems to cut out quite often. We have the sky ultrafast and need to know if I have to get any boosters which could resolve this.
