ASUS TUF AX-6000 Issues

Hello,

I currenty have Sky 500mbps FTTP. Up until recently, I had been using the Sky router with an Eero mesh system. However, after some shopping around, decided to purchase the Asus TUF AX-6000 as it met my requirements.

Up until recently, there has been no issues with the router whatsoever. However, after returning from holiday there has issues with loading certain apps, streaming, inability to load pages on safari, ring chime no longer connects.

I have tried to restart the system on several occasions to no avail. I have also reset the box where the ethernet comes from.

When testing download speed, there appears to be no issues with the speed with it coming in between 350-500 dependent where I am in the house.

The issue is intermittent and I can't pin down a particular app that is experiencing issues.

Any advice?

The first thing you'd need to do is to connect your Sky hub back up and see if the problem is still happening when thats in use.

Re: ASUS TUF AX-6000 Issues

@jamesn123 - I have plugged back in the Sky router and have noted no issues. The strange this is that there was no issues with the ASUS router, i went away for a few days and when I came back, there was issues with loading certain sites etc. There was no changes to settings etc. I attempted to factory reset the router but still the same issues.

@Miley2023

There was new firmware released recently, so maybe your router updated while you were away. Previous version is available on the web site so maybe see if you can roll back.

Re: ASUS TUF AX-6000 Issues

@FLC - Thank you - I will give this a try.

Do you know if there would be any issues with speed or connectivity if I was to use my Sky Router as a modem and turned off any wifi connections etc., and then used the Asus as my wifi? Could you still use the ethernet on the Asus or would devices need to be connected directly to the sky router?

Re: ASUS TUF AX-6000 Issues

Doing that will give double NAT as bothdevices will be acting as routers. That may or may not give issues, but best avoided if possible. You could keep ethernet devices connected to the Asus but you'll lose a port with the connection to the Sky Hub. But there should be no need, as the ASUS should just work.You would also need to turn off DHCP on the Sky router & give the Asus a gateway address in the same range as the Sky.

Or you could configure the Asus as an access point instead & leave everything else to the Sky Hub. But that would lose much of the Asus' functionalilty.

Maybe factory reset the Asus & set it up again before trying to downgrade the firmware.

@FLC & @Miley2023 there is no need to turn off the Sky hub's DHCP server or change the  Asus addresses in a double NAT set up. Simply connect the Asus WAN input to one of the Sky hub's LAN ports, the Sky hub assigns an IP address to the Asus WAN port which then translates that address for devices connected to it's LAN that is Double Network Address Translation. You can either turn off the Sky hub's firewall or place the Asus in it's DMZ which may help simplify fire wall issues but you cannot get round the NAT issues.

The set up proposed is effectively having two routers on the same LAN which is not likely to work.

Re: ASUS TUF AX-6000 Issues

Thanks for your input - what do you suggest would be the best way to set up the Asus?

As noted above, it did work for a while without issue and now it has interimittent issues.

@Miley2023 your Asus router should connect properly to the ONT is not cllear why you had an issue power cycling the router and the ONT is a good idea.if thst doesntvwork using the Asus in access point modecis probably better than a double NAT but either should work.
