4G Backup Failover

Our internet connection has dropped out every now and again but only today sufficiently bothered me to do something about it. We have the Sky Connect Business Broadband package with a BR440 router and 4G dongle.

The dongle is plugged in, lights up but doesn't seem to activate when the wired connection drops. I've checked the router settings and can't see anything mentioned about the 4G back-up.

Am I missing something to activate the back up or is it just not working as it should?

@HugosDad  This is mainly for the domestic broadband for Sky. Do you not have a dedicated support line for your broadband on the business broadband through Sky to sort out your connection issues that you are having.

Not that I'm aware of.

Warm welcome though. Cheers.

As Sky only offers cellular failover with their business broadband product, I'm afraid there's just no experience of it here in the domestic Sky broadband forum.

I have that facility on my BT Halo 3+ FTTP, and do see the separate cellular hardware listed when I look at the Smart Hub 2 admin pages.

Contact details for the Sky Business Broadband product are here:

https://www.sky.com/business/help/articles/help-contact-us?

and setting up the Business ('Connect') Hub with the 4G dongle described here:

https://www.sky.com/business/help/articles/setup-guides-for-your-business-broadband-4g

Step 7 suggests there should be a lit LED on the dongle

and has a telephone number for hardware support.

Re: 4G Backup Failover

Thanks, I've emailed them. Their phone number goes around in circles, then cuts you off.

No problem: frankly the business broadband product has always been something if a mystery, and we really don't have any visibility into its operation or support mechanism.
