switching to sky mobile

i am looking to switch to sky mobile, but when i go to order it says it can take 6-8 weeks for the phone delivery, i was wondering if you start to pay the contract straight away or when it arrives?

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
