how long do deliveries on back order normally take

No one can tell you how long backorders take, it will be down to getting stock from Apple etc.

Back order means there is no stock currently available that can be allocated to your order, you are just one of many in the situation across all networks with devices from Apple. This is due to stock shortages as Apple can't keep up with the demand due to issues with a shortage of chips that these devices use  plus covid, hgv driver shortages and delays to freight at the ports around the country so at present keeping an eye on your order tracking page is all that you can do as it will update when stock does become available:
