Why no post on updates

I was talking to Sky about Broadband which was sorted, I then asked why Sky don't publish  Sky Glass updates on line, the answer was check with the community site.

All other company's put out publicity on new updates so you know what's going on, rather wake up to find you have had. Update without a list of the fixes. It would be handy to know what has changed or why it has bricked the set !

@EDGARTHEFIRST I agree.  A change log would be nice.

Once an update is released we may be able to get the info to the forum, currently Sky don't announce what the fixes are pre release.  I'm sure that is the same for Q also.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

I think I'd challenge that statement: yes, tech companies have a tradition of doing so, stemming from software programming practice, but Sky largely position themselves as a supplier of mass-market consumer services and products and have never seen a need to publish specific information on those lines.   Buffer overflows and memory leaks aren't exactly enthralling when Sky subscribers just want Corrie to series-link properly.

@TimmyBGood I'd rather look at a change log than watch Corrie 😄

An interpreted change log would be nice, with just headlines of what has significantly changed including when updates start to be released and when available on the DR feed for those who somehow did not get them.

BUT not a complete change log, has anyone managed to understand all the excruciating detail contained in Windows change logs.

Re: Why no post on updates

Sky glass sadly had multiple faults it would handy to know which fault the download was to cure, then complain that your queryhas not had a fix., though lack of direct information from Sky

@EDGARTHEFIRST

It's possible to extrapolate: already mentioned in review articles is a change to default image settings, and one would think network and power issues are a priority.  Playlist functionality is back-end, not firmware, and obviously hardware specifications remain unchanged.
