Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreJust noticed since getting sky q that there are 2 ssids on 2.4ghz. One is N144 the other N289
Is one of them a dedictated connection to the hub or the sky q acting as a mesh (which i have no need for) How do i disable if mesh i don't want to disable if its a connection to the hub.
There is no equivalent on 5ghz but the rx packets when downloading seem to be via the unsync'ed 5ghz band

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThere's no way to disable mesh/hotspot functions without switching off WiFi entirely. Separate control has been requested for years, but never arrived.

So it is the mesh ? Am i correct in that sky q connects on 2.4 only but otherwise functions on the 5ghz . Just trying to work things out 👍

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAs I recall when Sky is the ISP Q data backhaul for television traffic is on 2.4Ghz only via an SSID with no published key (set up by WPS between the boxes) but the Hub and Q television boxes offer 'user' WiFi on 2.4 and 5Ghz (synchronised by default) using the Hub key.

Many thanks, So am i best to resync wifi or keep them unsync'ed.. Seems to work fine unsync'ed but wonderining if there are any limitations to unsyncing re: sky q

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI dont think it makes any difference between synced and unsynced. Having the two SSIDs is normal as one is your Hubs SSID and the other is what the Q boxes use to talk to each other.
