Re: Switching off internet at night

I have the opposite problem both sky boxes and Wi-Fi switch off over night, which is very frustrating when I'm up all night, I can only use my mobiles 3G network. Have to wait till 4.30 am before it all switches back on. Spent many hours trying to figure out why...

@lucylou41 the time is out but check that your Q boxes are not set to eco power saving mode which puts them into deep, sleep from 1.30 to 5.45am. That mode turns off the wifi hot spots.  Changing the power saving to Active stops that happening see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/using-the-standby-settings#need-a-hand

Otherwise a fw nights of lost connection can be down to network maintenance which cannot be avoided but should be temporary.  Check if the internet light on the hub changes to yellow from green see Lights on your Sky hub explained | Sky Help | Sky.com

@leetilbury24 there are many things Sky could add but as I explained in a reply earlier many devices use the downtime to update and run housekeeping tasks which would then have to run when you need to use them.

  • What they need is WOL - wake on lan?
Passing on the tips I have learned in over 24 years as a more than satisfied Sky customer.
