Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI have FTTC, not FTTP and I don't use the VPN mentioned and after checking, the ones I use are working fine.

I have the same issue with Surfshark. I can connect to the internet with Surfshark on my mobile using EE mobile network, but when connected to wifi, it just does not let me connect. Surfshark tech advice was that this is a common complaint with Sky users. They did give me some changes to make to the router settings, but I'm not comfortable changing anything in case it messes everything up! Never used to have this issue, have been using Surfshark for almost 3 years now.

Yeah it's a drain mate only the openvpn protocol works but you lose loads of speed with it , it's definitely sky blocking the other protocols with surfshark , as nordvpn is fine can you post up what surfshark tech suggested to do so I can try it please
Cheers

As far as we know, Sky don't 'block' VPNs: they just manage to break them quite a lot ; (
Yes, it would be 'legal' to do so if made explicit in the T&Cs (because 'net neutrality' is a concept, not a requirement), but probably commercially unwise for any ISP.

Personally I suspect it's associated with the internal routing Sky apply to facilitate Broadband Shield / Broadband Buddy, even when those products are not actually in use by a subscriber.

Try changing your DNS server to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4
these are Google's DNS server. I had to go that on my laptop to get Surfshark to work.

My solution with surfshark on is to set it to a static IP address and it works with firestick ,but I've changed now to nordvpn and it works on any protocol without any issues
