Sound issue on firestick

I have installed a firestick but when I use it I have sound still playing from the sky station I was previously watching as well as sound from the program I am watching. I have turned the soundbox off with no change.

If the input button on the Soundbox is set to "HDMI", you'll get sound from only the Sky box.

To get sound from other sources, using the "Optical" input would work better (assuming you have an optical cable and have it connected to your TV).

You'll also need to set the sound output on your TV to "Optical" if you're only using the soundbox as your speaker.

Yes as @PeteRG41 says - optical from your TV to the Soundbox is definitely the connection you need. 

Then turn your Sky box off with the remote

For some reason, the Soundbox was designed not to have the ARC feature, which severely hampers the usability.

Many thanks for your comments, I have the optical cable now fitted and obviously now turned sky off and have sound from tv for the firestick.
