Our router is kicking out 300+mbps, but in every other room it is <10 mbps. We have two boosters, a sky Q and 2 miniboxes, but one mini box is virtually unusable because of slow speeds it keeps dropping the connection. I have copied the data below - can anyone advise how to sort this out?

Your solution would likely to back the boosters up with an ethernet backhaul. This would stop them relying on WiFi to provide the mesh.

300Mbps seems quite slow for a 500Mbps connection
Is this all wifi or ethernet,?
Can you test the speed using gigabit ethernet cables on fast.com?

Test came up 296mbps. But another Ethernet connector to one of the boosters came up 5mbps

You're not using powerline adapters or any device as a wifi to ethernet bridge?

Only in one room - that currently reads only 5mbps.

Sorry not a powerline, it is a Sky installed booster,

@jamesn123 so is there a solution? if we reduce the number of boosters, then we won't get any signal in certain parts of the house, which is not an outcome that will work. When we recently switched from Virgin because we were having the same issues, albeit a bit worse as the Virgin signal constantly dropped out, Sky basically promised us that their router/boosters were so powerful they would give us amazing coverage throughout the house. It's becoming apparent that it was just sales talk and the situation is really no better. Is it too much to ask of a company to provide reliable broadband coverage for a whole house and not just the room the router is in?! Hopefully a sky employee will pick this up and answer!

Yes: frankly that's too much to ask of an ISP. A specialist wireless contractor might be prepared to take on such a task, but you'd be paying commercial consultancy and hardware installation rates.

@jamesn123 Thanks. Sounds like I will need to get an external provider in to do this. Appreciate your help

@TimmyBGood ok, accepted - appreciate your clarity. Frankly, I don't care about the cost, I just want to have fast, reliable broadband throughout the house. Would be helpful if Sky were honest about this in the installation process. I was quite clear about the size of the house and our requirements and every answer was "yes, it'll be great" all the way up to the point just after installation when it appears that the answer should have been "no, you'll need to rewire your house to do that"! Not being particularly gifted in the art of tech, I took them at face value. Still, you live and learn...
