Sky q box upgrade

I have an old sky Q 1tb box, been told I can upgrade to a new UHD box but sky want to charge £99 or £50 with me signing up to multi screen. seems steep to me as as far as I'm aware the equipment is still skys so why do they charge so much?? Any tips on how to get one cheaper?

In a word, because they can. I know it's not helpful. But have you tried calling and asking? Are you still in a contracted period?

I have tried calling & that's all they offered me for both 1tb & 2tb boxes. I am still in a contract unfortunately

@LukeStell Is multiroom not something you are interested in?

No I wouldn't get the benefits from it. Had it in the past and it was just a waste of money

@LukeStell That's fair enough, perhaps try livechat and see if you can ask there, sometimes, a different approach might get a different response. Unfortunately usually they only way to get better prices is to recontract or add a new service.

What's also quite unfathomable is how Sky can charge this 'upgrade' fee for an HDR box but then, judging on recent experiences of others on this forum, they send out non-HDR boxes, sometimes multiple times, because they have no control over their own stock!

I ended up with an HDR box for free when I complained about the noisy hard drive in my old box. It was supposed to be swapped like for like, but wasn't, so in that case Sky's ineptitude was a win for me.
