Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
I have the exact same issue as @Braepark
We live in an area with very poor landline speeds so opted for NotSpot MastBand a few years ago, who use EE 4G SIMs.
The service is fantastic but we cannot get our SkyQ to work with it. A couple of engineer visits & +++ hours on the telephone concluded that their boxes do not support the fluctuation in signal of a 4G service vs landline, so that was that.
So we still have to pay every month for a 2mb speed landline just so we can have a connected SkyQ box... even though it's virtually impossible to download a film or show at that speed anyways.
Please Sky, you have to come up with a fix for this ASAP - especially now when broadband providers are actively encouraging customers in poor speed areas to use 4G services!

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
From my own investigations I believe switching off IPv6 on your router will fix the issue.
I aslo have MTU set to 1472
Hope this helps.

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
I had Sky Q installed today, but could not connect through a 4g router to enable downloads.
However due to a really helpful Sky operative we decided to connect the 4g router with a lan cable.
Hey presto, success.

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
Unfortunately the LAN outlet of my SkyQ is already taken up by a LAN cable running to a SkyQ signal extender box 😞

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
Try and get a Lan cable splitter doubler about £6.99 on Amazon.

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
No, don't do that: the appropriate hardware is an unmanaged gigabit ethernet switch. Ethernet 'splitters' are a nasty wiring bodge that reduces network throughput from gigabit to 100baseT at best.

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
I e had some success with connected Sky Q to 4G routers. The issue I get is that of Remote Download failures. I'd be interested to hear if you see that issue. Seems to be an issue when downloading something that includes adverts.

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
Hi
I solved that by connecting Sky Q to my EE 4g router with a Lan cable. It seems that 4g is not stable enough for the Xbox.
Hope tis helps.
Good luck.

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
I've always had it connected via Ethernet. Just read an interesting post that suggests the ip address changing with 4G at the time when Sky switches content between adverts and program is the issue. That makes total sense and matches my experience.

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
We've tried hard wired and that still didn't work, it recognises the router but just won't connect to the internet

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
I'm using Three and had to change the APN from three.do.uk to 3internet.
the sky Q box can happily connect to Netflix and Disney+ but still failed mostly to download on demand content.

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
So we've been running SkyQ and the whole house and business network (working from home) for the past 2+ years over EE 4G connection as we are rural and despite being told they had tested the system and we would get 30-45mbs fibre BT Openreach went back on their written word and gave us 1.2mbs ADSL
our EE 4G connection has been superb, never really dropping below 25mbs down and 10mbs up but occasionally it does fail.. because of this occasional failure (mast faults) we have a second Vodaphone 4G via a seperate router and seperate mast and this is much the same as the EE setup for performance.
Both routers are fed into a load balancing router via WAN connection and then this is distributed accross the house/office via LAN cables and wifi hotspots.
Our System is very stable and quite bullet proof.
Up until about 6 months ago when SkyQ started to fail recording stating 'no subscription' and now it does not even allow access to the 'On Demand' and 'Sky Cinema' sections just sitting there hanging and then eventually showing a blank screen.. we also try to access programs from the home screen and it tells us 'cannot find programs of this type', I assume it is because they are on demand/sky cinema.
So we have gone from a perfectly working system to one that does not provide the service it is supposed to..
Just to say I hold VC with global compaines, the kids are on Xbox or streaming games and four of us are working online most the day at the moment.. everything is working perfectly apart from Sky Q
Have I reported it?? YES October and still waiting for a call back

Re: Sky Q won’t connect to 4G router
Presumably live broadcast is working though?
There have been posts here regarding an issue with on-demand and the serving of the compulsory pre-content adverts, solved by ingenious application of a VPN to get round an apparent DNS problem.
