Sky Q and Ultra HD Question

I have pre-registered and am considering Sky Glass... however...

My 18 month contract only started a week ago and it seems the discounts will not be carried over if I go to Glass.

My current TV setup is HD but not 4K. I do however have Ultra HD included as a 'freebie' in my latest contract renewal.

So basically my options seem to be give up my contract and go for Glass or stick with it and buy a new HDR/4K TV. My current Sky Q box however  is not Ultra compatible.

Should I expect Sky to swap out my Q box for an Ultra compatible one FOC as I am contracted for UltraHD or should I expect to be charged something for the privilege. If Sky will exchange the box then buying a new TV becoes a viable option.

There is likely to be an admin charge to upgrade the box (remember you don't own them) but ring them and see what they can do.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Re: Sky Q and Ultra HD Question

Great solution thanks... the only problem is I have been ringing them all day and never get past the password stage... I assume they are all too busy selling new TV's. All I get is a silence, even musak would be more enjoyable.

Yeah - I just got a Q box on a communual aeriel last week and thought they'd never get it working but they did and when they did I immediately asked for a UHD box.

They replaced the next day but £50 admin charge for me (£99 was the standard)

I cheated and put in a complaint that my sale wasn't what I wanted as i was confused and the call centre emailed me and asked me when i wanted a call then rang me and box was here next day.

Re: Sky Q and Ultra HD Question

Can you remember how you got the complaint in? Nothing works by phone at the moment and I can't find any email options.

Re: Sky Q and Ultra HD Question

After discussions with Sky I managed to get the cost of the replacement box reduced from £99 to £50. Not sure I approve of paying anything but agreed last night. The box arrived this morning... closing the thread

£50 is the cost for a self-install Q box. That's what I paind for a v3 2TB Q box. It arrived the next day and I had it up and rnning (including firmware update) in less then 30 minutes.
