Re: Sky HDR
@rozel wrote:@JOHNGALLEY I'm wondering how many early Adopters actually had the foresight to negotiate a V1 to a V2 or V3 box, when they became out of contract? This whole saga has been debated on this and other forums for a long time. I would argue that if they didn't for one reason or the other then that's down to them and can't blame whoever for the fact they cannot get HDR-HLG now. Most people on here are enthusiasts and should have been aware this would be an issue if they did not act.
Many changed from V1 to V2 and get the separate power unit to reduce the heat generated by the V1 box.
If I am correct the V3 box has an internal power supply and even if not is identical to the V2 except for the missing silver strip so little point in changing to just get rid of a silver strip (I liked the ones with the strip better)

Re: Sky HDR
Another possible issue for those not able to watch in HDR/HLG that I've just read on another forum. You might have your Sky Q connected via an AVR that does not pass through HLG. In which case try connecting Sky Q direct to your TV.

Re: Sky HDR
So I have a v1 and don't receive a few nature programmes in higher quality today - PANIC RANT RANT BANG MY HEAD OFF THE WALL........
Anyway far more important thing in life at the moment, like Health and worrying about she who must be obeyed working in hospitals.
Rather than try to find the small print in my contract THAT WON'T say we promise you HDR on old equipment I will wait until the world is in a better place.
And rather than leave Sky I'll leave this thread that is tumbling into a want want want circus.
Perhaps those sensible technically minded poster could start a new one where interested partys could source appropriate advice.

Re: Sky HDR
That's true, but as these are UHD Q boxes then in many cases users like myself are already having to bypass an older AVR anyway just to get SDR UHD to the TV. It's a good thing to look out for though.

Re: Sky HDR
@bob1234 Not sure what you point is - I was saying those who didn't swap from a V1 box to EITHER a V2 Or a V3 box then blah blah blah - sorry if I've misunderstood you

Re: Sky HDR
@GoldenPhoenix Mate i was on the phone for a hour or more with Sky Tech arguing the toss with them .
My understanding was there will in time be a HDR package and when you sign up .. then a replacement box will be offered to those who current boxes prevent them from enabling a paid for HDR package.
Maybe bull , but makes more sense than the finding a pathway brigade..

Re: Sky HDR
This is typical Sky, it's an arrogant company. Luckily I'm out of contract so can pull my plug anytime I chose to. But if I just cancel UHD and some other things I presume I won't have to re-contract to continue with my other services? If they charge for an upgrade path or don't provide an upgrade path for several months...
Or perhaps if I call to reconstruct I can demand a new box to do so? Would that work?

Re: Sky HDR
@JOHNGALLEY This makes perfect sense to me - I would be willing to sign up for it, even though I can view the limited HDR-HLG at present for no additional cost

Re: Sky HDR

Re: Sky HDR
My 2017 Sony only has HDR not this HLG thing, Sky are charging me for something I can't access. Who do I complain to?
But seriously folks, I can't access the HDR stuff but oh well.

Re: Sky HDR
@rozel The point I was making was that many did not try and change to get the latest tech many changed because of perseved overheating problems, likewise some changed the other way due to compatibility problems mainly with Samsung TVs
