Re: Sky HDR
That was not the case for me. Sky had no record of me having every registered for the new box. A quick call to Sky and it was all sorted. Box was dispatched the same day, and I received it 2 days later. If I had not rang up and would not have gotton the updated box. Does it make any difference that I am a VIP Diamond customer?

Re: Sky HDR
Thanks for clarifying that there is not a stock issue, that helps.
I and my wife have spent an hour or more on the phone to Sky
this morning. They are unable to put the order through as you said.
However they were able to confirm that Sky do not have a request
from us for the upgrade in spite of me having registered early on and
again more recently.
The only thing they could do is to send us a text to allow us to register
again on the Sky webpage. Hopefully this will allow Sky to send us the
golden email.

As @Kei+M said, there's no point calling as the agents can't progress it. At a guess, the issue prevent them processing upgrades also means they can't seen any pending requests from affected users.

Re: Sky HDR
Replacement box arrived today. V2 box but picture and speed seem better than V1.
HDR working fine so I'm quite happy with it.

Re: Sky HDR
Box arrived today, old V2, not paying £50 for a 2yr old box that looks like it's been used already! It'll be obsolete in a years time
Tried to get through but only dealing with vulnerable people, they've had months to get there contact centre working remotely! It's a good deflection tactic for them

The V2 and V3 boxes are identical as far as the hardware goes. The only difference is that the V3 box uses a separate wifi chipset rather than the one on the SoC, so unlikely to be obsolete at anytime soon unless the V3 box has other capabilites no one knows about.
The upgrade was for an HDR capable box and there is nothing that really implies you would get a V3 box. The £50 for the upgrade is probably largely made up by the standard £20 admin charge for changing the box and the insured delivery of the new box and return of the old box. Sky stopped doing free P&P for hardware years ago.

Re: Sky HDR
The email specifically says the "latest" Sky Q 2TB box, so that's what I expect. Phoned and they are going to sort it out for me

Re: Sky HDR
In my opinion the £50 rip-off setup fee is a slap in the face for sky customers, the reports of people having a V1 box installed fairly recently or people having viewing issues with the V2 whose box had been swapped back to the V1 to cure the problem, then penalising the customer for the privilege of wanting to view content in hdr, something that other subscribers can view without any cost.
The way sky have handled the the whole situation regarding hdr is less than impressive.
Now the reports of customers being sent out a V2 box,
"To watch in HDR you need to upgrade your box. You can get the latest 2TB Sky Q box now, all you need to do is pay a £50 Sky Q set-up fee"
If I had been sent a V2 box after going the hdr upgrade route, I would be expecting sky to rectify there mistake ASAP.
Tom...
BELIEVE =accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.
BETTER = of a higher standard, or more suitable, pleasing, or effective than other things or people:
Sky Q & 2 mini’s
SR203 router. > Replaced with ASUS XT9’s with a TP-Link TD-W9970 modem
Sky superfast 80/20 :sort of, 63-75/15. Devolo 1200 wifi > Replaced with cat 6
Sony KDAF8 65 oled.

Re: Sky HDR
So some others coming from v2 > v3 box's, have reported faster UI, box runs cooler, and NO inline brick..
I would say thats 3 good reasons to want/get the new v3 box...
Will tell you better, once i get mine.
I got mine arriving on the 25th, after the 1st engineer came out with, and installed a v2 box, after him repeatedly saying, it def was a v3 box. he was installing.....Make of that what you will gents !.
But quick phone call to sky, and they got it sorted for me.....Cant fault there CS on the phone tbh here....

Re: Sky HDR
@simon194 Not entirely true, the V3 also has a gigabit ethernet connection as well as the separate WiFi controller

@rscott Not according to Sky's own spec sheet for the box
The spec sheet linked to from https://www.sky.com/help/articles/check-which-sky-q-box is the v1 box, not the v2.
I don't believe they've ever published a v2 spec sheet.
That and the fact that my managed switch reports the v2 box as being gigabit, unlike the v1 it replaced which showed as 100Mbit/s

Re: Sky HDR
@rscott It mentions the V2 box dimensions bottom right of the document, so I assumed the spec was for both
