"My point was more about UHD rather than HDR/HLG.  I just assumed all Sky Q boxes (not minis) were enabled for UHD.  Several posts are suggesting that isn't the case.  "

hi @ianmerseyside

Those "suggestions " are definitely correct . The early 1TB boxes don't not support UHD

All 2TB boxes do support UHD and also the newer 1TB box

Re: Sky HDR

Thanks @mike+simmonds .  That clarifies things.  I live and learn!  So, what was the main selling point for early Sky Q boxes if they couldn't do UHD?

Re: Sky HDR

As far I am aware:-

All 2Tb boxes early and late do UHD.

Early 1Tb boxes only did HD.

Later 1Tb boxes can do UHD

All Minis only do HD (As you said).

Re: Sky HDR

@GreenLantern🙂  Thought I'd answered you - nobody knows with 100% certainty what box(es) will produce Sky's HDR-HLG - we have to wait until Wednesday 🙂

@rscottyou are sticking your neck out here, haven't read my posts or you have inside information not privvy to anyone else.  My V3 2TB box surely has the HDR-HLG capability - something which you have glossed over.

I reaffirm what I've said to @GreenLantern

Correct.

And if the 2TB box has an external power supply, it will support HDR. If it doesn't, it won't.

@rozel  Sorry, misunderstood

Re: Sky HDR

@GreenLanternno worries at all - the mention of @rscott  was that his post didn't cover the new V3 2TB box - the relevance of which is that this box doesn't have an external power supply!  There's been too much speculation on this subject and nobody knows with 100% certainty which boxes will produce HDR-HLG.  We are less than 3 days away now so let's wait and see including me and my box 😁

Hi @ianmerseyside

I guess the early 1TB box was a "cheap and cheerful " entry level box for those who did not (at the time) have a need for UHD

Sorry, I've not seen a v3 in the plastic - was under the impression that still had an external power supply.

If you want distinguishing features - the v1 has an HDMI input (possibly with a cover over it). The v2 and v3 don't..

Also, the v1 has a 100Mbit/s network connection compared to the 1GBit/s on the v2 and v3.

@Super+Anthony afraid you are wrong Sky do have a V3 version of the 2TB box it's exactly the same spec as the the new 1TB UHD box but has 2TB storage even looks the same as the silver trim is no longer on the 2TB box

Re: Sky HDR

@rscott  again no worries.  My more specific point is nobody knows yet what boxes will produce HDR-HLG with 100% certainty

it's very straightforward.

The v1 UHD box and the non-UHD 1TB box can't support HDR. The other 3 boxes (the v2 and v3 2TB, plus the 1TB UHD ) can support it.

Re: Sky HDR

So the 2TB UHD box without external power supply is the version 1? Should Sky be unable to upgrade my box at this time, how do I go about arranging a discounted subscription to account for this?
