do you work for Sky, sure sounds like it

In what respect? I'm simply a veteran of Sky HDR treads and know they go on for dozens of pages, but achieve less than nothing because HDR sure ain't coming to Sky in the near future. But as I said, I don't want to be responsible for furthering this so I will bid you good day.

He he he, I sure do love getting paid by Sky for these posts. Oops, did I say that out loud?

That aged well.

It's usually good practice to not make declarations like this as fact, when you evidently have no idea what's actually happening behind the scenes.

@PBS83

Yes, if only I'd known there were a couple of nature documentaries coming.

Re: Sky HDR

Hi @rozel

Are you using the native Amazon Prime app on your TV?  I have been watching Bosch in HDR on the Samsung TV Prime app and it isnt the best as some of the scenes show a noticeably flicker. This appears to be a known issue on other Samsung TVs although not on Netflix or Disney + however the colours are  very  good, not washed out, otherwise. however when I use the Amazon 4K FireTV stick Prime app the picture is perfect.  Deep colours and good contrast.

Re: Sky HDR

I only rrad the first page, as Ronny says on this page, these hdr threads go on and achieve nothing. But,I have just stumbled on a web site claiming hdr is arriving next week with the the arrival of the nature channel. It also mentions the games apps which I have on my boxes now.

so we should expect a subs increase or some angle on this right? And adding hdr to sky's uhd, which below par to anyone else's uhd, will we get full fat hdr or sky's hdr? Or is the web site talking rubbish...?

Re: Sky HDR

Thanks -@chrisnavigator   No my TV does not natively support HDR/HLG but it can display via HDMI devices.  Other than the niggle I mentioned, I have absolutely no issues whatsoever with the PQ but was asking what others experienced.  I view via my Roku Streaming Stick + or Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K.

My question (and I apologise as it's outside the scope of this forum) is that whilst I am aware of the reduced Bandwidths of Netflix and Amazon Prime during the Covid-19 lock-down, how does one measure the bitrates of a playing film like you can in YouTube for example?  Pressing "info" only tends to bring up which Audio Channel is playing and whether or not you want subtitles.  I'm not asking about what wifi bandwidth I'm getting as I know this.  It's how I can check the bandwidth a film is coming through at.  I've heard Netflix have started increasing their's again although nothing in the UK as yet and absolutely nothing either from Amazon.

Re: Sky HDR

@legofpork

Read from page 4 of this thread. HDR arrives in a limited capacity from 27th on Sky's new nature channel. Nothing else at this stag .

Re: Sky HDR

@Rhonny   It will be relatively few of us with V1 boxes who will be clamouring to get a new box for HDR.

I know people who have expensive UHD TVs and only have a basic or HD HD Netflix sub.

Sky will know with the data from boxes who's downloading UHD programmes, watching live sport in UHD or just watching the default versions.

@NewtonBoy

I agree. You'd think from the excitement around these threads that it's what the nation has been waiting for. But that nation doesn't really know what HDR is...

Re: Sky HDR

@NewtonBoy UHD is the future for TV, just like HD was for SD. If we don't move with the times,Sky will continue to lose numbers and fall behind their competitors. SD is terrible so for those people who said it would be a waste to upgrade were wrong and I bet it's the same people saying the same about upgrading from HD to UHD

It will depend whether the boxsets were originally comissioned with HDR. Sky have commisioned several series in HDR in the past couple of years.

Re: Sky HDR

This might be a stupid question but how do you know what box you have.

I didn't know there was 2 versions of the q box. My is black with the silver bit under it.
