Re: Sky HDR

It does seem the usual service from sky, if you are an early adopter of the technology sky introduces when an upgrade is implemented because you take the new tech early your older equipment is now incompatible with the new technology and because there is nothing technically wrong with the equipment you are renting from sky a replacement to ensure you are fully enjoying the service you are paying handsomely for is not forthcoming. I dare say the only way to get a new box will be come end of contract when other options are available and sky have to fight to keep your custom. It would be nice if for once sky could at least contact early adopters of their new technology and simply tell them they havent been forgotten and new boxes will be provided if they are wanted.

Re: Sky HDR

To break from the norm of the thread so far, my sister called round to drop off a birthday present today and caught a glimpse of the Lemur programme playing on our TV (yes, we have a V2 box and compatible TV so it was in HDR). She's not really interested in tech or picture quality or anything like that, but she commented on how good the picture looked. So we'll done to Sky for getting that part of it right at least!

Re: Sky HDR

well that isn't putting sky in a good light if they don't give you the new box unless its faulty because that would really tick me off

Sky have already said that additional HDR content will only be added gradually, alongside a plan to facilitate viewing by a wider proportion of subscribers.  I doubt any prestige products will be available in HDR any time soon, hence the launch in the form of a few hours of nature documentaries.

@chris44 - There is currently no upgrade path/process (journey) from none UHD box to UHD compatiable one, that's it really in a nutshell.

Also reporting none existent faults in the hope of getting a later generation box causes unnecessary visits by Engineers during these trying times and also delays them getting to customers who have no service at all.

Re: Sky HDR

My tv is having handshake issues. When returning back to normal tv after watching hdr it turns black then keeps coming on and off. It's a Sony af9 so fully capable.

Re: Sky HDR

Then how can you have boxes that are getting the upgrade & other boxes aren't so do you have new boxes you gave to customers as your hardware says on the settings or is this more flim flam from sky ?? As normal like when you where constantly over changing me

Re: Sky HDR

For those with a V1 box like myself and no HDR .. the only way to get a newer box is to wait until HDR get's a large amount of content and HDR itself becomes a package that you pay for .. then because you do not have a box on which to get Sky HDR as long as you sign up for the package then the option of a box swap will happen, not before

There is no Sky plan to replace V1 boxes for V2/3 etc whilst HDR is free ..

That's not what Sky have said. They've said the upgrade path will be develops AS content is added, not after. They've also not mentioned anything whatsoever about charging for HDR.

Re: Sky HDR

Message from their Twitter Support team about upgrade for older model boxes to new model:

Hello, thanks for your patience

In the coming months we will be able to support a box upgrade if you have an older 2TB UHD box (model ID 32B0xx). In the meantime you can continue to enjoy all our great content in Ultra HD Standard Dynamic Range (SDR).

Re: SKYQ HDR How do I get a new 2TB Box

@Daniel-UK  And whilst there ask them to send out a DODO's egg with that box.. the egg will arrive a good deal earlier than a V2/3 box.
