I understand that some Sky Q boxes won't do HDR, but I thought they all did UHD. Wasn't that the whole point of Sky Q?
@ianmerseyside from what we know the original v1 2TB boxes are the ones in question as they were built using 2015 technology so HDR wouldn't have been included. We know the new 1TB UHD and the V3 2TB boxes definitely can and the V2 2TB box is the same specs as the Italian boxes that are used for watching F1 in HDR so these should be capable

I explained to my Wife when I paid a decent price for my 2016 LG B6 OLED (and it supports all 3 as well), that it was worth paying extra to future proof. First time I have been proven right in nearly 15 years of marriage! 😅

In her mind any reference to hubby being right gets autodeleted after 2 hours...its like setting your browser to forget your history automatically. Or so a friend told me. I'll get my coat...

Re: Sky HDR
There's been some comment about external power supplies. In this thread "Which Box Do I Have" : -
https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Which-box-do-I-have/td-p/3127766
It became clear that you cannot rely on 2 things: - 1. whether or not you have an external power supply or the Hardware Settings displayed about your box's version. Towards the end of the thread I summarised my situation about my upgrade from a V1 2TB box to the newer so called V3 2TB box: -
So in answer to your question @Drexl+Spivey , The box is "All Black", the label on its base is "ES340d9", there is no Silver trim and there is no external power supply. It runs much much cooler than the old V1 2TB box. However the info in "Settings/System/Info" shows the Hardware Version as ES32B206. But I've confirmed it is 2TB and the label is the most important detail here. Make sure you call it the V3 / Titan box, so there are no misunderstandings.
Again hope the thread and my experience helps

"when I paid a decent price for my 2016 LG B6 OLED"
Hi @Anonymous
I was in a similar position with my 2016 E6V
LG seem to do a good job with firmware updates and as the years go by I can say " so that TV is now works out at less than £1,000 a year"
Interesting also that we have Sky Store as an app on our TV

Agreed.
The quality of the Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ apps is impressive, but the NOW TV app doesn't support 50fps when you have Boost, a must for live football (remember that?), and it doesn't look like I'll get a native AppleTV+ app either which the newer versions do have.
Cracking TVs though, I look forward to putting the Sky Nature content through it's paces when the nice Sky engineer does my install later in June.

Re: Sky HDR
@GreenLantern @It doesn't help that the media keep getting it wrong. I have just read an article in 'Cinema' that states those 2TB boxes that have an external PSU won't be able to get HDR, which as far as we know is completely wrong.

Re: Sky HDR
It's not about whether your box can process HDR-HLG it's about what box you have. I am not sure anyone knows as yet with 100% certainty which box(es) will be able to produce HDR-HLG but members are hoping it's just the V1 1TB and maybe the the V1 2TB boxes that might be suspect so I'm hoping my box will be ok.

Re: Sky HDR
I have no great knowledge of electronics etc. but have learnt sufficient from people on here and other
forums to enable me to :-
1. Solve the Samsung "lack of HLG via HDMI " issue by following the debate on forums and as a result obtaining
the update for my KS7000 from Samsung. Great effort by Italian and UK forum users.
2. Fix the inability of the KS700 to handle the BBC UHD/HLG output on iPlayer by buying a Roku stick.
3. Help monitor the latest information on Sky's HDR launch - even though I doubt if I'll get it at first
as I have an early box. But at least I know.
So I welcome contributions from all - they have helped me a lot to keep up to date with this field.

Mine is model ES 240UK-E. Serial number B400197A005989. Anyone know if this processes HLG?

Re: Sky HDR
@Laing1 My point was more about UHD rather than HDR/HLG. I just assumed all Sky Q boxes (not minis) were enabled for UHD. Several posts are suggesting that isn't the case.
