Sky GO runs for about 15 - 20 minutes on my Lenovo laptop, and then suddenly shuts the laptop down. Rebooting it takes significantly longer than a usual restart.

You need to provide more info on your laptop other than it's a Lenova as that really is little to no use in trying to diagnose any issues.
What version of Windows are you running?
How much Ram in GB do you have?
What other programms are running at the time
Do you get the blue screen before it's shuts down?
