Thanks for the kind words. Yes, sorry about the original post, a bit of a mess, first post is my excuse!

It's nice of you to say but as a bit of a techie I don't feel I solved it, just found a detour! If I have time I might chase Sky to sort it out properly.

you done the work - you get the credit, all I did was tweak the process.

If you hadn't managed to do the strip back URL trick - we would all still be here.

Hence credit were credit is due.

I x-posted on the Mozilla forum were I had posted similarly with link to this thread - so again your credit.

Now classed there as a solved problem.

It is of interest this being a SKY forum as why the signin URL defaults to a SKY homepage (coz that's what it says when you put it on the toolbar) that doesn't work, whereas unsigned in sign in page bookmarked does work.

But then again I am no techie - I am still at the level of my original BBC B and pre-internet !

Nice tidy up Jeff, bookmark is an excellent idea, I'm out of the habit of doing those: I just Google everything!

bookmarks save my ailing memory cells, and using teh toolbar means I get to the same sites I use as frequently as I need without Lord Google (trackmeister).

An update for cogitation by those who understand code.

I received the following message via Mozilla forum viz.

"https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=https%3A%2F%2Fskyid.sky.com%2Fsignin shows there are some warnings and errors on the page.".

If one follows the link https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=https%3A%2F%2Fskyid.sky.com%2Fsignin one finds a number of issues that a SKY code writer should at least examine.

Maybe someone will.

I will also start a separate post that might draw attention.
