I like the ability to record more programs that Sky Q gives but really miss the reminder function particularly for live sports events. Surely it would be relevantly easy to restore the function, as the system has already been developed and used.

Unfortunately it is not going to happen it is one of the most requested things in "Q ideas". Actually it is not as easy as it seems with multiple boxes and users.

On Sky+, yes, not on Sky Q. Q is not a revised version of Sky+, it's a whole new codebase, with, as noted above, a completely different relationship between client devices.
