Poor golf coverage on sky

Getting very tired of the featured groups golf coverage. Watching people well out of contention, whilst those in contention playing. Only get to watch the last nine holes of best golfers in competition. This coverage is so poor

Coverage has always been selective but I think it is due to the reduced number of TV crew members due to COVID.

I think they have less staff that just follow certain groups that progress from hole to hole with the groups (or skip from one to the next) rather than have crews at all the holes.

Re: Poor golf coverage on sky

I'm fairly sure the tv cameras are following the competition leaders for the whole of the final round. I would like to as well.

Re: Poor golf coverage on sky

Covid is no excuse for such poor and embarrassing coverage as this. I get that there are fewer crew members(camera men etc) because of the pandemic. But camera crews are mobile, they're are constalty on the move. Can someone please tell me why they remain filming complete non contenders on the rinal day of a 4 day golf tournament, whilst the main contenders are playing unseen?! I don't pay my subscription to watch the worst golf in a tournament as the tournament concludes and gets exciting. I pay to be involved in the excitement, not excluded! Why does the limited number of crews pick up their equipment and go and fallow the real action? Their on the course for gods sake, so show us the leaders. It's insane. I don't see my sky sports subscription being reduced but I'm certainly seeing their coverage reduced to embarrassing insulting levels. Come on sky, get your act together!

Re: Poor golf coverage on sky

Isn't the "featured groups" coverage provided by the PGA Tour, and not really in the control of Sky?  They are just providing the feed.

Re: Poor golf coverage on sky

That is the case sometimes. But my point is still the same, i doubt very much if the PGA coverage is only on the featured groups on the final round. Surely they must be filming the leaders too. Which begs the question why are sky only paying to see the non contenders? I pay for sky sports to purely watch the golf. It is so frustrating to be charged for full subscription but not receiving full coverage. They should reduce the sky sports subs or give people what they're paying for in my book.

Re: Poor golf coverage on sky

Good example is last 10days coverage from Saudi. Ellie Givens, a member at our club that we have known since she was in junior school was in the top ten in both competitions and was in the second placed team in the team  event. She was on screen twice whereas "stars" who were doing nothing got lots of air time.

I totally agree. Paying to watch two groups, inane chatter which you could hear on the radio, constant leader boards. I WANT TO WATCH GOLF THAT IS WHAT I PAY FOR>

PATHETIC

You're fighting a losing battle by complaining to or about Sky as they have no control over it.

If you're unhappy with the coverage, you need to refer your views to the relevant Tour.

Sky would only be accountable for tournaments they act as host broadcaster; everything else is provided to them as an off the shelf product, which they can choose to add their own graphics and commentators to.

So disappointing that a great young European talent like Marcus Kinhult has been in contention for day 1 & 2 of the Saudi Golf, and Sky have show pretty well nothing of his golf, and the commentators never mention him.

Re: Poor golf coverage on sky

Coverage of second round of AT&T from Pebble Beach is very disappointing. Total focus on American players. Tom Lewis joint leader and he has not featured once. We are watching players who will struggle to make the cut while those challenging for the lead don't feature.

Re: Poor golf coverage on sky

There have been 3 LPGA tournaments this year with no coverage. Not even a highlights. Have had to watch low quality YouTube videos to even know the Japanese and Thai ones existed.

Re: Poor golf coverage on sky

The Sky coverage of PGA golf is becoming more & more diluted. The commentary team is way too small. Andrew Coltart & Nick Dougherty have v become tiresome because of their frequency. Why are we not given the option of the host coverage of CBS with Nick Faldo & Jim Nantz or the American host that week. Even at Memorial yesterday the Jon Rahm situation with Covid was like having a friend tell you what they had heard on the radio yet I was supposedly watching that tournament live. Give us the option of taking the US coverage. Sky are making a mess of a prime sports product. Much more effort required for the price. Round by round compact 1 hour highlights show. Not a recap on Monday evening when the result is 24 hours old. Poor, poor show & has been for quite some time.
