Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@tarbat didn't show how to fast forward to get the programme you want did they?try Osman's house of games series five and wear your thumbs out getting to today's episode.
Agree. It was more "marketing" than actual help. Fascinating that he claimed you can only add something to your playlist if you have a subscription for the content. Is that true?

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@LGUser I wouldn't disagree. Shelling out to third party app leads to a less than ideal user experience, and while some are ok, there are a few that are poor, while there is inevitably a lack of consistency and cohesion around playback that this causes.
This somewhat tarnishes the experience. The constant exiting back through apps to return to the home menu is somewhat irritating, and although you could just press the home button again you'd then have to start at the top of the home menu and navigate back to where you want to go.
Yes, you could use voice, but I really don't imagine many people do or like to do, so quick and easy menu navigation is essential.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
It is true you need to log in to for example the Channel 4 App to be able to add something to the playlist. The key issue is that the programme needs to be listed there, and if it has been on live TV an hour ago it is prob not going to be listed until tomorrow. So you can't actually add for example todays episode of a nightly series.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
This statement you make at the start that the content of playlists is available to play back 'at any time' is blatantly incorrect. The descriptions of Glass up front were not accurate and it is not an equivalent service to Sky Q unfortunately. As I cannot get a dish signal in my new house this is very disappointing and I will be perusing other options.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@Chrisee thanks for the info also can't get the Dolby sound. Working the bass and General sound is lacking a good bit , it's a little bit better on custom as I've changed the bass boost on but I'm so far underwhelmed by the sound 😱😡🤨 it's got no real bass or nice Studio like sound that what I expected a lot worse than our £100 lg sound bar ! 😱 so not even compared with high end sound system. Someone please help me sort the sound and Idearly help me get the sky punk remotes to control our tvs as using two remotes when only needed one on q is 😡
thanks as I'm abit disappointed so far it's no better than q in some ares and worse in others ! 🧐🤔🤨😡

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
This thread and others on Glass useability are at complete odds with the message Sky gave the world at it's big product launch.
https://corporate.comcast.com/press/releases/introducing-sky-glass-streaming-tv-from-sky
So, at about 9:40 they start talking about simplifying today's complexity (there seems to be plenty of that in the glass threads)
Then about 17:39 they use the example of the older dad who has no time for complex design and technology. Yet plenty of confusion over just how Playlist works....
And about 44:53 they talk about remarkably flexible and intelligent platform making finding what you love effortless....
So i don't have Glass. But, just looking at the plethora of posts here I'm still struggling to work out how playlist actually works. But, whatever it is doing i don't believe it is working in a way that they sold it on this opening product launch.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@Neil848 yer it's does seem strange that the technology is getting thicker not better 🤔🧐🤨😡😱 . When we moved from + to q it was a step back and still have problems today than didn't have on + box on our q box after lots of hours on tech support faqs and phone support and engineer visits and even replacement q box still problems 🤔🧐😡😱🤨 . The glass got a few good points but good few - s too ! About time sky did update to q and glass to solve the issue that is only a software fix or sever fix I bet and them would have lots more happy customers and would have a great product not an ok product or a product you have to live with just to get most the programs you want ! Good job the kids and wife watches sky as I would stop it and just go internet based and back to dvds for kids room ! Before glass it must have watched maybe 5-10 hours of sky Tv in last year ! Most i watch is Netflix or Discovery + or YouTube.

If you remember the Leeds guy original video, he got presented with Disney ± content without a subscription (although technically he didn't add it himself), so this doesn't appear to be correct.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@bdavbdav @John4042 yer it seems that there was not enough info and targeted a wrong sky users or when q customers enquired about sky glass sky should have either a faq or quick survey to let you find out if glass was a fit for u or/and the advisor should quick workout by asking few questions if glass was for or told you the new way glass workes would have saved a lot of hassle and everyone time ! Also is it just me that thinks a tv that is suppose to be carbon neutral should not use throwaway battery's ! 😱🧐🤔😡🤨🤪 for the remotes ! Why not a rechargeable cell that you either charge up with a lead from a port under the front of the screen when not in use or even just from plug ! .? The tvs got usb c I think so why not ? It would save lots of waste! 😱😡 and be quick and easier like your phone etc ! Was a real surprise when opened the remotes to find throwing away battery's! Yes you can get Rechargeable battery for remotes I know even though sky say alkalines only ! But would have been nice for the price of the tv and for eco friendly reasons ! 🧐🤔😡🤨🤪

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@LGUser yer it's the main bit and can't see why you cant ie record things still but to the cloud or even put small ssd in glass and would not take up much room nside most of us would happy pay few £ more for tv and maybe 1 inch thicker if that ! the hit and miss back catalogue of past episodes and seasons of current shows is annoying 😡🧐🤔🤨 too . And the auto settings being not smart enough to judge what is needed depending on content your watching 🤨. Or ours is not setting up right I think and seen few on here say the same..

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
Sky put up this video to help explain how the playlist works.
@BIG24FAN cannot explain why you sudio sounds poor as that is not what a lot of the reviewers report so either your unit is faulty or you are expecting a bit much. Perhaps going to listen to one at one of the Sky popup centres might help?

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
Could I ask, why are there fewer channels on Sky Glass than on Sky Q. For example, I like watching softener news channels on Sky Q, but the choice is very limited on Sky Glass. Also on the music channels, for eg on Sky Q, channel 362 is rhe Now 80s which I enjoy while I work, but again Sky Glass is very limited. When I was signing up to Sky Glass, I did ask if I will be on the exact same packages and I was told yes.
I understand that Sky Glass is new and a work in progress (rightly or wrongly), but will it ever end up having the same channels as Sky Q. I would like to know before my 31 day return expires. I am considering returning it for now and perhaps taking it up when it is far more established.

Content rights appear to be the big issue. Some of the channels only have the right to broadcast (not stream) the content.
If/when Glass subscriber numbers reach significant levels, then channels will be working hard to renegotiate contracts. It'll also be in Sky's interest to encourage some of the missing channels to join, so I'd expect there to be serious commercial discussions about how to persuade them.
Interestingly, it appears some channels may be taking advantage of the lower cost of streaming compared to satellite and are providing HD versions of the channels to Sky, whereas they're only broadcasting in SD.

Re: Playlist FAQ / Q&A
@rscott @Thank you for the reply. In your view (it's just a view, I won't take it for gospel or hold you to it!), do high think it's worth holding on to Sky Glass then? I guess it also comes down to how long it might take for Sky to get the other channels. Interestingly, I don't watch a lot of the missing channels but with Sky Q I "know" they are there "if" I want them, but with Glass because they are not there, I am
more conscious of them.
I get the feeling, eventually most things will be about streaming content as opposed to the Sky Q way. This change in mindset is harder to change than anticipated. I mean I watch Netflix, Prime etc as streaming without any issue yet find it harder to transition from Sky Q. I suspect it has to do with my being so well used to pressing record on programmes I want to watch later. My Sky Q still have recorded programs from over 2 years I go that I have not had a chance to watch

I honestly don't know anything about Sky's timeline or plans for adding more to Glass, but if you find you do want those channels and keep Glass, quite a few are available via Freesat.
Not an ideal solution having an extra box, but is an option to consider.
The latest version of the Glass contract does mention some changes to the channel lineup, which suggests Sky are actively working on content - https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-terms-and-conditions
Seems that TCM, PBS America and Ginx TV may be going HD on Glass soon.
