No broadband

No broadband since 7am this morning- what is going on? Says outage that will usually be fixed in a couple of hours- it's now been nearly 8 hours, also having impact on tv too due to no connection

@ANDREATRIGGER  You don't say where your locality is, have you checked https://mobile.twitter.com/skyhelpteam  for any updates or outages.

@ANDREATRIGGER  Sadly as with any outages it is not Sky or any ISP (with the exception of Virgin Media who have their own network) it is Openreach who deal with faults.  It also depends on what the fault is & where.

For example has one of the main cables been damaged by other workmen, is the fault underground on their network which isn't easy to locate.  Sometimes it will take some hours and all you can do is wait and be patient.

Spoiler

Still not sorted. Twitter help have said there is no known issue but the sky sure says that there is a known local issue- all very strange.

@ANDREATRIGGER  Please refrain from using spoilers, it is of no use to anyone and it is against forum rules.

@ANDREATRIGGER

If it's more than an individual outage at your address, work will  already be underway, whether or not Sky have posted notification, and will take as long as it takes: domestic broadband has no particular service level agreement, but issues affecting more people inevitably get more resources allocated.  If it's just your address, Openreach wouldn't do anything apart from logging the issue until Monday morning at the earliest.

  • Use your mobile data but keep an eye on the level of usage if streaming TV.
Passing on the tips I have learned in over 24 years as a more than satisfied Sky customer.
