Any reason why the latest episode of Billions isn't in UHD as with all the others and the 3rd series of FBI isn't UHD like the first 2 series....

The restrictions on media content production over the past 18 months may be partly responsible though: it's just harder to make content for UHD as everything from set construction and makeup to post-production and SFX just takes longer and requires more resources, otherwise the increased definition shows up the flaws.  The choice may have been to either fall back to HD production, or make nothing at all.

Not sure that explains why FBI Most Wanted is the only show from Universal Television that is available in UHD  (Law and Order SVU/OC , New Amsterdam and The Equalizer aren't available in UHD either)

Re: No UHD again on new series.....

Futher update from Viewer Relations re FBI Season 3 UHD.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Our On Demand Team have advised that a UHD version of FBI Season 3 for
Catch Up is not on their Work In Progress List at the moment

They did say if it is in the future they will advise.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact Sky, and I hope you still
enjoy Season 3 in HD

@Timelord2018 probably because the studio have not supplied the UHD master they use to create the UHD file. I suspect @TimmyBGood has a point that the pandemic has impacted the productions.

Re: No UHD again on new series.....

Expect their both made by the same production companies though.

Re: No UHD again on new series.....

I have to agree with "Webmoose", it seems all new series' that were previously shown in UHD have all gone back to standard HD, and I find this very disappointing. What's the point of all the new TV's out there with UHD, HDR and so-on when the content for these is just becoming less and less, and let's not even go down the HDR route where I haven't found one person who thinks their picture has improved because of it.

I'm not an avid viewer but I can certainly think of a recently restarted series which is in UHD, just as the previous series.

In terms of HDR, much depends on the quality of the TV. I can certainly see a significant improvement.

Once Billions hit in UHD, it's been UHD every epsiode since on the same day. The Rookie has been UHD either the day it aired or the next day.

So please don't make an incorrect generalization. ALL is not correct.
