Is my Sky Q hard drive failing?

Hi All,

Had Sky Q since 2016 (April I think) and throughout the last year or so I'm staring to see more issues with recordings. Almost daily I'm seeing pixelation and breakups on most recorded content with occasional pauses and skips. I have ruled out signal issues as I've watched stuff "live" and it is perfect but when played back it has these issues. Also been getting audio drop outs and pops but that isn't as often or as bad.

Is this a sign that my hard drive is failing due to it being over 5 years old now? I did the wipe/reset last year but that didn't improve things. The box is often very hot despite being well ventilated and the hard drive does make fairly loud clicks and pops sometimes but I don't know if this is normal for Q as it's always done it.

@stejoIt does sound like the hard disk, work your way through this link to see if it helps, there might be a link to order a box change but it does not always work. Ignore the top bit about messages, hard disk problems don't always give messages.

@stejo it does sound like the box could be on the way out. Best give a call to Sky

Re: Is my Sky Q hard drive failing?

Thanks @bob1234 & @Doc5907

I haven't had any error message as of yet. I'll try another full reset at the weekend and see how it goes.

I don't want to go down the box swap route yet as I'm out of contract just over a month from now and I'm hoping I can persuade them to send me the HDR box without the £50 fee.
