Re: Intermittent "Technical Fault With This Channel" Error

Had my box replaced this weekend for this problem., although eventually it was not resolved by rebooting on the old box. Lasted one day and the problem is back.

I haven't gone as far as a factory reset yet but this is happening multiple times a day with my 2TB box and it's driving me up the wall.

Re: Intermittent "Technical Fault With This Channel" Error

I had a new dish last week. The box had already been replaced. I thought it was fixed as no fault for 5 days. Then it's had the same problem tonight.

The engineer said the only other thing they can do is replace the cable. My cable was hidden in walls during building work. If I have a new cable it will entail a huge amount of work and decoration to hide it again. I'm not convinced it will fix the problem. Can you imagine going through all that and still having the issue.

How many other people are having this problem.  Could it be something else?

@MarkRugby  The cables are relatively inexpensive so you could  buy a satellite shotgun cable and run it loosely from dish to box to test and if it solves your issue then you can consider a complete installation. Just a thought....

Re: Intermittent "Technical Fault With This Channel" Error

Thinking of that yes but even still not an easy way to get the cable to go on the box without drilling holes in the wall. Might have to try it through a window or something. It only happens every few days. Seeing as so many people seem to have an issue I am doubtful it will fix it!

Re: Intermittent "Technical Fault With This Channel" Error

I have been having this issue for a while now.

It seems to always happen after the maximum number of recordings has occurred. Even after the recordings have finished. Almost like the tuner is stuck on the old channel from the recording.

Once occurring I can still see the channels that were recording (or are still recording), but not any different ones, also any recording with a pin fails, but any without a pin works fine.

Sometimes resetting the main box (power off \ on) clears it, sometimes resetting a mini box clears the channel issue on that box, normally always by the next morning if doing nothing it is all working fine

again.

So my only conclusion is a software issue with the tunners, no hardware has been changed.

Re: Intermittent "Technical Fault With This Channel" Error

I believe it is related to maximum and overlapping recordings too. However, I think it is only in specific cases as I set up a test to record 5 things and followed straight after by another 5 and no failure occurred. I don't know if it's particular channels or if there is another trigger. I had the failure again yesterday evening when lots of things were recording.  Good to know I'm not alone!  Engineer due in a weeks time but they clearly can't fix software issues. I wasted 2 hours on the phone to Sky trying to get them to report this.
