ITV news not very green

  I can't help noticing when watching ITV news the huge amount of TV screens in the background which seem to have the same programmes showing on multiple screens. There is one screen in particular that I see on ITV news on almost a daily basis which is always showing the same programme. It's easy to spot, you can see a dark-haired female wearing a white top sitting on an orange sofa. Why is this same clip shown every day? Is there really any need for so many screens, it seems like a huge waste of electricity to me. I don't even see anyone watching them, so what's the point?

ITV News use a fake (green screen) background, that's why you see the same thing every day.

@Mr+Ripley

Newsrooms typically have live feeds from other stations being shown, mostly so they can spot anyone who has an 'exclusive' and jump on the story themselves.  Even a large array of LCDs will only consume a tiny amount of electricity compared to the overall operation.

  @TimmyBGood  But as I pointed out, multiple screens show the same thing over & over on a daily basis, so that doesn't seem to me like a live feed is being shown at all.

Or it's the same thing when you are watching, because that's what's live on those other stations at the time.

  @TimmyBGood  Absolutely not. There is no way that woman on the orange sofa is there every day wearing the same white top. That was only one example of repetitive screens, there are many more, including a few that look like the programme has been shot with night vision.

  Anyway, @xenon81 has cleared the mystery up.

  @xenon81  Thank you very much for that, definitely cleared that up for me. Nice to know all that electricity isn't being wasted after all, however minimal it might be.
