Re: How does the playlist work?
Yep, it won't be ad breaks from linear broadcasts. Again, this is nowhere to be seen on the Sky website apart from during the checkout flow and in the small print. I imagine it means the pre and mid rolls for Sky Box Sets.

@Anonymous wrote:Here's a thought. This year free of fast forwarding ads? How is that even possible if you're not actually watching the version of the programme from the live feed? If it's all just being pulled from different apps, you still have to watch itv ads, and surely on demand sky programmes wouldn't have ad breaks in them. Are we talking about the ads they usually show before a programme like on sky go etc? Rather than fast forwarding ad breaks?
For Sky content such as On Demand movies there are no ads at the beginning of the movie, haven't tried it on the normal programme yet.

Re: How does the playlist work?
@Rewind In my opinion, there usage of the words "fast forward the ads", which I have just googled and many news outlets have also reported it as it sounds, is massively misleading. To me, those words suggest you save a programme from live tv, it stores in your playlist, and when you go to watch it, it cuts out the ad breaks. I'm fairly sure 99% of people would have taken it to mean the same. The news reports certainly did.

Bottom line is, if you get sky glass, you're gonna have to get used to the fact your traditional way of recording/saving programmes is gone. Just watching the news there, and you can't sort of press plus on that and save it for later. Unless it's on an app, be it itv, or sky, then you can't save it. You can literally only have programmes that are app based. So we either get used to that, or send it back. With their being no hard drive, I can't see how this will ever change.
I know this, I've been using YouTube as my main content for years and creating my own playlists, I use iPlayer and All4 weekly and have not turned on my Sky box for months, I am used to that way of working, the way this implementation is being explained to me makes it so underwhelming and hardly a step up from what I am doing or have been doing for years
I was so hoping that this was going to be as good as it sounded on paper, I had the exact say thing at the Sky Q launch, one day sky may surprise me but not this time

Must admit I'm the same. I hardly even watch sky myself it's more the wife. But the glass makes my shield look better so I do like that.

Re: How does the playlist work?
@Rewind I did read about the 1,000 hours playlist cloud 'recording' on the sky website cant see it now maybe sky took it down all I can find now is 'add it to your endless playlist' so maybe sky has changed it for the better

Maybe they cannot workout how to add up the correct number of hours in the playlist due to all the extra fluff in there that people are reporting when addng stuff

Wow ....... Any thoughts I had of getting glass have now completely extinguished... I try to avoid the TV channel apps as it is (apart from iPlayer uhd) so this would never work for my recording needs.
Sky Q will DO
Sky Q 1TB UHD
LG TV
Sky Mobile
Sky Max Full Fibre 500 broadband

Re: How does the playlist work?
Exactly the same. Completely avoid tv channel apps. UHD bbc is the exception.
I can't live with this approach. Cancelling tomorrow

Re: How does the playlist work?
Got to say im a tad worried about the playlist now.
We tend to watch TV a little bit behind time, sometimes 5-10 mins or so. Eg currently on Sky Q - Emmerdale starts recording at 19:00. We then start watching the recording at 19:10.
Am I right in thinking of now have to wait until the show is on catchup (after 19:30) before I can start playing it back?

That's my belief from what other already with Glass are saying 😞 It may be different with skys own content
