@Stuvennn I would be interested to hear from any forum members who are involved in helping investigate this issue ?🤔I was asked to complete a form of my setup  and on a second occasion asked if the problem changed over one  particular weekend. That's all I've been asked to do .

Exactly the same for me. No further information at all. I'd imagine that anyone who is communicating directly with an engineer (if indeed there are any) has been asked to say nothing.

You'd imagine that if we were the minority of users affected by this that Sky would be able to have identified a number of different box variants that they had tested in the lab and foumd no dropouts. Then it would be a simple swap those boxes with members here on the forum and see what results both sides get. After all the claim is there are millions of unaffected customers out there....

I had this problem when I upgraded to the V3 box. Sky sent me 2 replacement boxes but exactly the same - random sound gliches on apps and playback.

Last week Sky finally acknowledged this was a known problem and they are developing a fix (no timescales).

They downgraded me to a 1tb non HDR box and gave me my box upgrade money back.

I noticed that the gliches still happen on non hdr but no where near as often - annoying.

@Pictor64  So, have you now got a 32C006 box  ?  If so, do your drop outs look similar to the i've previously posted  ?

@CyberFriday It's good that sky now admit the Q box has problems.Like you though the very fact that us guys on here aren't being given things to test like experimental boxes .Doesn't lead me to think any intense repair/fix is on the way soon ?🤔

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

I read on a post here a couple of days ago that a subscriber cured the problem by adding an HDMI CEC less adaptor plug in from the HDMI out of the Sky Q box.

I rushed to Amazon with the same kind of urgency I'd have for the vaccine.

£15 later I can confirm IT DOESN'T MAKE A BLIND BIT OF DIFFERENCE!!!

Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Just for information I am still waiting to receive a deadlock letter to enable me to take my complaint to CISAS however after 3 follow up emails after they 'closed' my complaint confirming I had not agreed to close it I am receiving no response whatsoever. As my understanding is you have to receive a formal confirmation that Sky will not do anything further I am wondering if this is their way around customers not being able to go 'independent' for a review of the complaints?

@nickt99  Sky can't stop you contacting watchdog, rip off Britain or any other consumer body.

after all sky are a service provider answerable for their actions like anyone else

@nickt99 I guess they will claim they are doing something about it... Working on a fix. The issue is the amount of time it is taking to deliver and the lack of meaningful comms (although I suspect that might hamper their ability to get more customers)

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Does anyone still suffer from the sound drops during the UHD Dolby Atmos coverage on Sky Sports Premier League matches. I used to get 4 to 5 second audio drops, it wasn't unusual to get 5 of these during a single match. I haven't had a single one of the past couple of weekends. This makes me believe that there are two sound issues, and the Dolby Atmos one on the PL matches was a broadcast fault and there was nothing wrong with the Q box

@Anonymous I agree that the Atmos glitches during live footy were/are a broadcast issue. I also haven't noticed them for quite a few games now. I was previously getting them a lot and I have a v1 2TB box. With the v1 I don't suffer any of the other sound drop issues in this thread. Everything crossed that my v1 doesn't die and get replaced with a v3!

Intrestingly - I have only ever had the audio drop outs on the V3 Q box, but whilst watching a recent football match on The BT Sport App via my Apple TV (Which was a Dolby Atmos Broadcast) I suffered exactly the same type of drop outs.  I am now starting to consider whether there is an issue with my LG OLED tv and Atmos broadcasts generally?

@Anonymous  Is it only drop outs on the Apple TV with sports & Dolby Atmos or do you get drop outs on Apple with other Atmos programmes ? And i see you and @Perfectionist+dur have an LG telly, appreciate may not be the same model. And no Apple Drop outs, not sure if they are watching sport.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@CyberFriday

Just following up on your comments. Much appreciated by the way.
I don't have ANY dropouts on Apple TV at all. But I only watch Apple TV via that dedicated Apple box. All hardwired via Netgear Orbi routers fed by BT high speed fibre cable (300mbps constant).
I watch all other apps (like Netflix, Disney plus etc) directly from the LG apps (SO much faster than through Sky box) and NO dropouts at all. LG's smart TV is really now first class.
I can't speak for Sport as I never watch it.
I only get audio dropouts watching Sky content on the Sky Q box.
I love love love my LG OLED 65" EV6 - it was the top of the range when I bought it. The last of the 3D screens. The LG updates have been fantastic and the apps fast and responsive. Catch-up TV is 3 times the speed of watching the same via the Q Box.
So my only issue is the Sky content.

The audio dropouts are SO annoying. And the false hope that of a day or two without them brings us SO frustrating.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@Anonymous

Sorry, I overlooked a question you asked about Atmos.
I run my Sky Q directly into my LG tv then run an optical cable from the LG to my AV amp.
The advantage is I don't have lipsynch issues.
The disadvantage is that an Optical cable can't carry an Atmos signal. So the best I can get is Dolby surround.
My AV amp, unfortunately, doesn't have 4K 2.2 passthrough - otherwise I'd run everything through the Denon amp. It's the next upgrade on my list (when I can afford it).
I hope this throws some light on the question I missed?
