@Olly135  Good for you mate, I hope you get a good deal elsewhere. Be prepared for the 50% discount offer from sky if you can get virgin your area.

@Stoatgobler
I can totally understand them getting indignant. But they need to see that we need more acknowledge, sympathy and support than we are getting.
Kei and Co are lone voices is this and they are, rightfully and loyally, defending their paymasters as best they can. However, sometimes these passive supporters (and I thank them) need some ammunition to take higher up the food chance.
They must be equally frustrated that not enough resources are being thrown at this. So maybe the mass media digging around a story could help them too.
Just saying is all.

That was meant to read "food chain" not "food chance".

I thought someone on the thread said they knew the editor of Whathifi , they gave sky a big fat thumbs up review.  No mention of sound dropouts or networking issues.

@CyberFriday perhaps WhatHifi tested the Q box on its own.

If I only ever used our main Q box, I wouldn't get any sound issues either.

It's only when miniboxes are switched on that it all goes pear shaped.

I wouldn't bet on it. I only have a main Q box, never had any minis, and it suffers continuously with random drop-outs. It's hard wired to the Sky Hub and has both frequencies of WiFi turned off. It's never been put under any sort of heavy work load, like recording several things at once, but still it just can't reliably record and play back a single programme without drop-outs.

Hence the fact I have negotiated a reduction in my subscription until it is fixed and only ever use the box for watching live TV which doesn't (for me anyway) suffer from drop-outs.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Jumped from Sky HD to Q with a good deal, considered cancelling it all but offer was good.

had it since 15th Feb. Noticed very little sound glitches until today.

Recorded program, playing back and very occasional split second drops, like the word "more" would sound like "m"ore".

Mostly watch live tv/on demand downloaded content and apps and cat say it's been as noticeable til today, watching prerecorded content..

I have no mini boxes, WiFi is off on the box.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Another update. Watched a movie on sky movies HDR last night. Sky set to DD+.  Dropouts every 10 seconds. Is that a record ?.?.  Tried again this morning ,still dropouts. I have an LG CX 55 connected to LG SN11  soundbar via earc. I went into sound settings on TV and in additional settings I changed “ digital sound out”  from pass through to auto.  Dropouts now GONE but will obviously keep any eye on it.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@Paulh57   It would be great if it did work for you, but from my own experience and that of  many others on this and the many other threads the drop outs will return.

in reality we have to accept that there is nothing we can do our end to resolve the issue, very knowledgeable technical sky customers on these forums have been trying for over 2 years with no success.

the solution to this problem lies squarely with sky and sky alone.

alas despite what some are saying sky have no real interest in solving this issue until it becomes public knowledge that their flagship sky q isn’t fit for purpose, this is where adverse publicity from the likes of watchdog and rip off Britain force them to fix the issue.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@Skull+Treaty I used to get sound dropout when only using the main box too, so I know it can happen.

But this mysteriously stopped a few weeks back and only happens when the miniboxes are switched on now.

We now know that if we want to enjoy a movie without any sound dropout, we have to make sure the miniboxes are off.

@burnebabybyrne

Sadly I don't have that pleasure; I use the Apple TV for any streaming services and hope on any downloaded/recorded shows have minimal dropouts
