@Deedee36 no idea. Probably not.

I doubt it very much. I think they see it is an issue of compatibility with certain brands of TV/soundbar/AVR.

Lip-sync via ARC is perfectly fine for some people and wildly off for others so it's not seen as a specific fault with the Sky Q box.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Garry74 Isn't that classed as a video sync/lip sync  issue rather than an actual sound dropout

Have Arc on my tv but don't use it for Sky Q for same reason have FireTv stick in that input without any issues.

V2 box so haven't had sound dropouts prior to Q130 and any updates before that.

@best+of+the+best

Yes it is lip synch. Just hoped that by fixing the software for the drop outs they may have inadvertently fixed the lip sync.

Just an FYI but I got the Q160 update this morning. I'm in Ireland and have  v3 box. Haven't had a chance to test it yet.

I posted in case anyone else in Ireland was still waiting for an update. Thought it might be helpful.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

After receiving Q160 yesterday on my ethernet-wired SkyQ v3 box and two Minis, I watched (on a Mini - after rebooting all three boxes) two BBC1 recordings from last night (Dragons' Den and Would I Lie to You?) and was disappointed to hear more audio dropouts than under Q150 (six in total). The dropouts all disappeared after hitting the rewind button so they are obviously not on the recordings. In all cases, I was the only person accessing the system.

Both the offending recordings were recorded before I had the opportunity to reboot the Minis, in case that matters, but were watched after the reboots. Also, I simply switched off the Mini boxes at the power point without disconnecting anything, in case that matters.

I will check some newer recordings and more channels later today.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@Q-tips  It fixed all recordings prior to the update for myself. It may actually be your box or dish, not sure why everyone is rebooting their box seems no need to do that as the box reboots in the early hours anyway if ECO is turned off (mines left on to do my green bit). Ive not had one dropout since the beta went live, so maybe check cables and HDMI connections and other device's attached via HDMI. What TV and AV equipment do you have as well?

 Honestly most people are now droput free which could mean if youve checked everything the dish may be out of alignment or its something else like the hardrive going. If the droputs continue contact sky once youver checked everything as I would say thats not the dropout bug anymore but its caused by other issues possibly.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont

The same kit produced on average one dropout per day over the previous month so I'm not looking down that street. Last night's spate of dropouts was definitely Q160-related.

I'm now testing the other boxes to find out if the dropouts are everywhere.

I should add that I watched live sport throughout the day yesterday, post Q160 and post rebooting the main box but prior to rebooting the Minis, and didn't have any dropouts on BBC1, BBC2, Eurosport or Sky Golf Channel.

@Q-tips

You refer continually to "reboot".  Why do you feel the need to keep doing this?
