Re: Glass as a second TV?
Thats backwards. Sky missing the mark again. If somebody is willing to pay for both services on a single account why can't they have both? I can have mobile, an iPad and a sim-only contract on a single Vodafone account. Why are Sky not capable of providing multiple services on a single account? People with second homes for example need to have seperate accounts. Its a pain.
You could simply open up another account and have Sky Glass seperately. Just more hassle for the customer who will need to have seperate email addresses and payments.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
No its based on address not account. You cant physically have Sky Q & Sky Glass at the same address.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
So I can't buy this TV separately, for a one off price and use it as a second TV without cancelling the other sky q? How much does a puck cost to stream? I'm not interested in bundles and monthly payments. Would prefer the just by everything outright.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
No it doesnt look like you can.
It works the same way as Sky Q does. You can pay for just the Glass subscription or pay £10 per month for multiroom to place Pucks in other locations. Each puck costs £50 one off

Re: Glass as a second TV?
@jamesn123 Yes but why not? There is no technical limitation. If I want to have Sky Q and Sky Glass in a single household and am willing to pay for it then why can't I?
The address is tied to your account so its the same thing. You cannot have Sky Q at your main residence then a seperate Sky Q service in your second home/holiday home on the same account.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
I imagine it is a limitation on networking or Skys authentication implementation or something I am not sure. I am very sure Sky's stance on this wont change

Re: Glass as a second TV?
@12rounds Sky have always only allowed one subscription/account per street address so you cant have two separate broadband lines, or two main Q boxes. There are technical reasons for some of this but the rest is a commercial decision. Unlikely Sky will change that anytime soon.
65inch Sky Glass, 3 Sky Streaming Pucks, Sky Ultrafast + and Sky SR213(white Wifi Max hub) main Wifi from 3 TP-Link Deco M4 units in access point mode

Re: Glass as a second TV?
I always thought multiroom abit suss to begin with. Why does it cost them extra to put it on more than one TV? Would have no problem buying a separate streaming box though. It sounds like a an excellent tv packaged in a clumsy way. If someone has a nice posh oled in the living room they are not going to want to stream thier service onto it via WiFi. It won't look at good when it's streamed. Nothing is.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
@Chrisee yes I am aware but my point is for the small amount of customers who do have different requirements it just makes it a hassle.
The technical limitations are purely on Sky's end as every other company in the world can manage multiple subscriptions across a single account.
For example I could make an account up for Sky Glass at my holiday home and still take my Sky Q box down, plug it in to the dish and have both running. There is no real limitation other than those Sky set.
There will no doubt be many households who want to take up a Sky Glass subscription running alongside a Sky Q sub but can't because they are hampered by Sky's nonsensical policy decisions. Its Sky that will ultimately lose money as people just find alternative solutions through other services.

It is against Sky's T&Cs to do this and i am pretty sure they are cracking down on this using Geo location.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
@jamesn123 Yes, again I am aware but the point is there is litereally no technical reason it cannot be done outside Sky's incompetence.
Loads of people take their Sky boxes to second homes/caravans etc. Even pubs in Spain are running Sky boxes which is obviously against Sky's T&C's. T&C's don't make things not possible. Just against policy.
Like I say, if Sky want to make life difficult for their customers to hand over money for their services, they will iust go elsewhere.

Or a decision based on a particular business model which you happen not to like?

Re: Glass as a second TV?
Thought this looked great at first a nice TV with Atmos and pucks that will stream in ?4k if you want to extend.
However I won't be subscribing to this ....sky broadband at 19mb just won't cut it for me. Nice idea but after investing so much in mini boxes to extend my WiFi too I'll be steering clear.
Unless that is sky can make my broadband faster (rural) and do good enough discount that it takes off what I've invested in already!
