Do the current Sky Routers allow you to use your own DNS?

When I last had Sky Broadband, I had fiber to the property. At some point, Sky updated the firmware which locked down the DNS meaning I was unable to use any DNS servers other then that of Sky. The solution back then was to have Sky roll back the firmware which they did and the problem was solved.

When Openreach finlly get around to putting in the fiber and we can get Sky fiber to the property and I can get the 500MB broadband, will I be able to use DNS servers other then Sky or is the firmware going to be locked down.?

No, afraid they don't allow you to edit the DNS within the router, you've have to do it per device or use a router that does allow it.

But I can use a DNS of my choice as long as I change it elsewhere other then the Sky router? Is this correct?

You can change it on individual devices if those devices have that facility

@LGUser

Change it directly on the device or get a 3rd party router
