Connect to apartment block communal sky dish

I would like to get access to UK free to air channels on my Saorview approved TV. I already have access to Irish channels using an aerial (active UHF antenna). I've been advised I need to connect to one of the aparment block's communal sky dishes to get the UK channels e.g. BBC. Can you help/advise on how I can connect to the communcal dish? My apartment is in Milltown Dublin 6.

You need to contact your buildings maintenance they will tell you if your property is connected to the dish they can also advise what cable you'll need to purchase

Re: Connect to apartment block communal sky dish

My property management told me that there is a communal dish so I will need to get SKY to come out and connect me up. How do I arrange this?

@PeteMac123 Do you have dish connections within your property?

I think so. There's a Tratec TRIS-226GEN (behind an old UPC cover, the apartment was built year ~2000), the broadband is currently connected into the 8-52 MHz 120-1000 MHz port. The 87.5-108 MHz port is free.

I've no idea about the wallplate I'm afraid, but the 87.5-108MHz port is for FM radio, not for satellite. You could contact Sky, but if there's no access to the communal satellite dish from within your property, they won't be able to connect you.
