Re: BBC One HD in England launching on Sky and iPlayer from today (first will be Sky Glass)

I can't understand why they have done it for Sky Glass straight away but not for Sky Q... anyone have any inside info on when it will move up to 101 on Sky Q? Also we need Channel 4 HD on 104... I have never understood this as Channel 4 doesn't have regional news?

Simple really, Glass is only streaming, to get the regions on Satellite involves sourcing additional transponders and then uplinking them.  All this takes time & money.

Anything else regional such as news? I'm not bothered to get the wrong adverts if it means 104 can be Channel 4 HD. I don't watch Channel 4 SD so whatever I'mnot seeing that's for my region is no big deal at all.

@LGUser I suspect that the advertisers are.

If the advertisers want me to maybe see the correct adverts, get Channel 4 to make my regional channel HD. I don't watch Channel 4 SD so I will never see the regional adverts. Most of the time I record and skip the adverts anyway.

Regional C4 HD variants have been testing, but the rollout is delayed by the Red Bee Media problems - they are focusing on sorting the subtitling and audio description issues as Ofcom are getting upset by the failure.

C4 also needs to get Catch-Up sorted as well.

They do, but that's a lower priority than their accessibility services. They're required by Ofcom.

C4 does have regional advertising.
The recent problems have not scuppered any plans for it launching, but no certain dates been announced across the platforms its not supplied on.

The plan for BBC HD is exactly as stated above for timescales.
Nothing for next year is set in concrete dates, so assume as it states.

Sky Glass has launched and BBC HD is running on that platform.
IPlayer is testing it (if you are lucky, you do not need to be a beta user and that does not ensure you get it). I have it on my account and it works on my smart TV, but that has a different base version than the Sky Q box that is not showing it.

A change to the iPlayer menus also happened recently, not to my liking but think it was done to help this HD change work.

There have been some test transmissions on a transponder used by C4, but these stopped shortly after the Red Bee failure.

Sky glass

I can only watch breakfast on bbc iPlayer not from the main menu which obviously doesn't show the local news

it is not the connection as I can watch breakfast on my iPad without a problem which uses the same broadband so bbcHD is not working on my sky glass
