UNEXPLAINABLE INCREASE OF FEES

I had a fixed contract which ended a few months ago. My bill went from £25 to £33.50, up to that, normal.

I read somewhere that they have increased rates, but I am still struggling to understand why my bills have gone from £33.5 to £36.5 (april) to £44.47 (may) and now £46 (june)! Over 33% increase and I am getting the exact same service.

There is no one to speak to... at the verge of ilegality.

Has someone experienced something similar???

thanks

Maca

@MacaMGilbert

Sky subscriptions are not usually a fixed price.

Unless you’ve recently changed your subscription, prices increase due to either the annual price increase (April in the UK), your discounts have ended, or a combination of the two.

Sky will have told you the date any discount was ending when you took it out so if it has ended you’ll be paying the full undiscounted price.

Perhaps compare a previous bill to your latest bill and see where the amounts differ
www.sky.com/bill.

If you’re no longer in a discounted minimum term, or its ending soon the best new discounts are normally acquired by calling Sky and negotiating or potentially amending your package which will now require a 24 month minimum term contract. Sky are not obliged to offer you another discount, and recent posts on here indicate that significant discounts are now harder to come by. If you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer may no longer be available when you call back.

That will be the price increase in  April.

That will be expiring discounts (pro-rata over 2 months).

Not sure what you mean by this - simply call Sky and negotiate a new contract but don't expect it to be as low as a new contract.  Or simply switch to another provider...

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

@MacaMGilbert one of Sky's messaging team can explain the increase, if you wish, via a private online chat.

However you won't be able to negotiate a new contract with them - for that you would have to call.

Re: UNEXPLAINABLE INCREASE OF FEES

Thanks Mark, I managed to find a number hidden in a long sequence of screens and I have talked to an agent and the situation is crystal clear now. If this helps anyone... they did notify me through the app that my 2nd contract was ending (I never saw the notification as I barely get in the app). The reason for the crazy jump in fees is that I am no longer in a contract, but I can get into one with another commitment of 2 years to lower the fees.

thanks again!

Re: UNEXPLAINABLE INCREASE OF FEES

Hi, many thanks. things were along the lines of what you commented.

I normally struggle to find a phone number as they are quite hidden and not easily available. everything is clear now as I have been able to find the number and speak to an agent.
