Sky customer service asking for my sky id password

Just was on the phone to the customer services as we were changing our package for sky glass (ordered Air, then changed our mind to Gen2).

 

as we were trying to get them to update the accounts (apparently you can't have 2 accounts on the same email, which they didn't  tell us when setting it up).

 

Anyway, in trying to solve the issue, the call centre helper asked for our Sky ID and Sky ID password over the phone?! I work in It, and this is like the biggest of no-nos. This wasn't asking for the over the phone password, this was our actual online Sky Id password he was asking for. 

 

When we questioned this on the call, the  call centre guy quickly pushed us to another team. Not before mentioning that he always asks for it from people??

 

How is this even something they're allowed to do?

@Foodel 

Where did you find the number to call Sky on was it via a Google search because of that was Sky you were talking to they should not be asking for your Sky ID password.

I suspect it wasn't Sky you were talking to.

 

Sky have no need for that password as they can perform administrative changes once your identity is confirmed without it.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

100% was sky we were talking to, as it was the number from their confirmation email of the sky glass we ordered. We were discussing a different package with a different team and got that all sorted then sky passed us to another team. Our original issue did get resolved and we complained to the final people we spoke to and they were equally concerned and reported it.

Hi @Foodel   Are you sure that they were not asking you for your Sky telephone password, which they should you?
