Sky Direct Debit Chargeback fee.

Is it legal for Sky to charge a direct debit chargeback fee of €15 which they say they are just passing on from Visa or Mastercard. I've not experienced this with other providers. Also the direct debits information / rights link on the Sky website is broken and the page cannot be found. Is this allowed to happen legally?

Almost certainly yes.

Can you provide a link?

OP doesn't say which service but I suspect all contracts have this clause:  (11.17 in Q contract)

"We may also charge you a reasonable fee that reflects the costs we incur if any payment instruction from
you is returned to us because you do not have enough funds in your account, is cancelled or is not cleared
by your bank."

Obviously we don't have the history here about what happened but the clause seems to cover it.

Not able to get a link via the sky email that came with my bill - I can only take screenshots - I clicked the direct debit guarantee link in photo one to get photo two.

Not a big deal really but I read tgat Sky Ireland was fined recently for basically making things difficult for existing customers to switch by passing is from one agent to another with no continuity and just general frustrating behaviour to fob us off queries about services and billing. I've been with Sky for decades and have not been happy with my recent interactions.

The trust I had in Sky is gone and I'd no longer promote the positivity I had felt before this years bill / fee increase and the results I experienced following interactions with staff.

I completed a questionnaire about service very positively only to be let down shortly afterwards when I received a bill that showed a different result.

I wrote a letter to Sky Ireland 🇮🇪 and have yet to get a response from them one way or the other. 'A Sky department' did call and left a voice message to say they called but no details and no answer when I called back - just that 'a Sky department made contact. Good bye'. 🙋‍♂️

I'll be waving goodbye asap to Sky after all the years and I promoted you to so many people. Diamond platinum customer means little in my experience unfortunately. I'm fed up wasting time like this last few minutes.

As the sky phone message to me said 'thank you ... we called you back ... no person answered ... good bye 👋. Good bye back sky number - see screenshot 3.

Your image showing the phone number was rejected as these aren't permitted on the forum.
