Set up account in error - now cannot delete it

I set up a new account in error with my gmail account. This was because I noted my main account had an old email attached to it and have not been receiving any emails from Sky. Now I have set up this new account with my gmail - I cannot amend the main account as it says it is in use. Any ideas? I spent the best part of an hour on the phone this morning to call centre who promised they would fix and they have not 😞

With this new account that you set up in error have you tried changing the email address on it to something else as this should then free it up to be used with your existing account.
