I'm getting loads of these calls from mobile and 020 london numbers driving me nuts!!!
I hang up now as soon as they say I'm from sky - all Indian voices.

I just had a similar experience. First call was from Rugby, followed by two different numbers in Glasgow. I answered the first call thinking that it was someone else. They now have my email address because I wasn't on the ball straight away. I'm slightly concerned that they can access my account or send further scams to my email. I was also sent a link to change my sky mobile password. Definitely scammers, just wish I had realised sooner!

I think you will be fine so long as you change your sky password. I would also change your email password. I did this and so far been OK. Its sad isnt it that we are so suspicious of every text email and phone call now. I will never give any info to anyone on the phone. I will always contact direct to check from now on.

Yes they are still at it, I am getting 2 or 3 calls a week, always from people with a pronounced Indian accent. The last time I told the caller he is bringing shame on his countrymen. I think he got a little upset about that. I wish Sky would send a clear message to all customers about these scam calls. That might discourage them from bothering us.

Beyond that, there's little they can do as the calls aren't being made by them.

Yes but When Sky have a new promotion or offer, they have no difficulty informing all of their customers about the offer. Surely they could send a simple message to all Sky customers warning about these fake offers of reduced monthly charges coming from scammers.

Well they would just stop with their own situation and leave other companies to deal , or not, with theirs . When a scam becomes this prevalent it would be nice to know Sky are at least aware of this particular scam. And warn customers . Or maybe that's not realistic these days, as you politely hinted. I just thought it would be nice. Anyway thanks for the exchange.

The scammers do the same with o2 and vodaphone in particular, running almost identical scams.

I got one also. As it was the very first time in 35 years with Sky I'd received a call from them, I immediately thanked him and rang off. It seems (on checking) that the number may indeed be from Sky, but after 35 years why would they call me?

Chances are they simply spoofed Sky's number.

I get these calls 2 to 3 times a week now always the same format an Asian accent call centre background reading from a script. I have a sky mobile that flashes a red scam warning (I always report and block)
If I can be bothered I lead them on and question "who am I???" Never provide information that Sky would know.
Caller always hangs up even becoming abusive.
You can't block the numbers as they are always different.
Never give information!!! 40% discount really.

I've had several a day from 020 claiming to be sky. I ask them to prove they are from sky. Usually they hang up.

Hi, I just recieved a call from (Removed) offering a 30% discount off my Sky Bill due to my customer loyalty for the duration of my contract, i.e. 8 months. I said that I was interested so he (an person with an Indian accent) asked me for several details to verify that I was the account holder. I then cancelled the call, since I realized that I had no verification or proof that he was from Sky.
He called me back and I told him that I was not interested so he immediately cancelled the call.
See from below that this is not unusual. Just wanted others to know how easy, in this tough economic climate, it is to fall for this obvious SCAM.
PLEASE BEWARE : if it sounds unlikely then it probably is .....

I have been receiving 30% discount scam phone calls more than once weekly for several months now, using different numbers each time, which I then block.
My concern is that other people are actually getting scammed and there doesn't appear to be any means of reporting scam phone calls for them to be investigated and stopped.
Sky advises contacting Action Fraud, but after completing a lengthy report to them, they advised me that they will not investigate unless an actual fraud has been committed and I have suffered a loss.
Therefore, there appears to be a gap when preventing against phone call fraud, though emails and texts can be easily reported to various government and police agencies to be investigated.
I did inform Sky of this, as although the onus is on customers to be vigilant, I won't now answer their genuine calls and emails as I cannot tell the difference between them and fraud, so they are losing my custom with their genuine offers.
