Returned equipment is lost

My contract ended in October and I sent my equipment back pretty much as soon as I received the box. Now I got an email chasing me for £53 because my equipment wasn't received. I can't find the receipt as it was so long ago and I don't know what I can do as I can't afford to pay for this nor I have the equipment to send again. 
Any ideas?

Unipart deal with returns and they are taking a number of weeks to process equipment at their warehouse. 

If you have the proof it should be fairly straightforward for the Messaging Team on here however if you haven’t retained it, any cancellation of non return fees would be at Skys discretion.

To get you some help with this I have escalated your post to the Sky Messaging team who should be in touch with you sometime tomorrow regarding this via a blue/red chat bubble which will appear at this bottom of this page.
